When was the last time you volunteered for a local organization? 5.8% of individuals in the U.S. volunteered in 2012. Within the next decade, volunteer rates dropped to 4.2% in 2022. Services provided by local Boston nonprofits like Chinese Progressive Association - CPA Boston, La Colaborativa Inc, Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO), Union Capital Boston, demonstrate the importance of community organizing. 📚Chinese Progressive Association Boston- Offers programming which works for the full equality and empowerment of the Chinese community in the Greater Boston area and beyond. These programs include adult education, youth enrichment activities, political empowerment, and environmental justice. 🏢La Colaborativa Inc.- Empowers Latinx immigrants to enhance the social and economic health of the community and its people; and to hold institutional decision-makers accountable to the community. Programming focuses on food and housing security, economic advancement, cultural celebration, and immigrant leadership that drive policy and systems changes. 🏠Greater Boston Interfaith Organization- Coalesces, trains, and organizes people across religious, racial, ethnic, class, and neighborhood lines to achieve a wide variety of goals. Previous campaigns GBIO have worked on include criminal justice reform, health care and affordable homeownership. 👩👩👦👦Union Capital Boston- Combines technology and relationship-building to strengthen community networks, build social capital, and create new pathways of opportunity for individuals and communities. Making a Difference: Volunteering for a Cause! I am thrilled to announce that I've recently volunteered as a Project Assistant with Theresa's Lighthouse, a remarkable NGO dedicated to raising awareness and providing vital support for children with neurodevelopmental conditions. You see, I'm all in at the sound of Diversity and Inclusion 😇 - I recall mentioning earlier about commencing research on the same subject matter, which I promised to give feedback (I'm done cooking, food will soon be served- get ready!) As an HR professional, this cause resonates deeply with me. Every child deserves a chance to thrive and reach their full potential, and supporting neurodiversity is another way to create impact. 😇 For Businesses: Businesses play a crucial role in creating a more inclusive and compassionate society. When companies support initiatives like these, they also fulfill their corporate responsibilities and contribute to building a more empathetic and understanding community. View this as a free gentle reminder.
