With everything else going on I managed to squeeze in a quick talk to the National Academy of Sciences Engineering and medicine with my @lastprisonerproject family Stephanie Shepard , Donte West and Kyle Page. Our panel came directly after the “How to eliminate the black market.” Presentation which was making my skin crawl so we had to set the record straight that the more effective way to help the unlicensed operators transition to the regulated market is to refer to them, to US, as the “Existing community infrastructure.” When you discuss how to “Eliminate” a population it heavily influences your policy outcomes. When you discuss how to incorporate an historically exploited community into a new paradigm, that also heavily influences policy outcomes. Words matter A LOT. They’re how we paint the vision of the world we are co-creating before the brush hits the canvass. Be deliberate, and paint 🎨 something beautiful. https://lnkd.in/ekv8spfm

The message of #freedom reaching all people through the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19th, 1865, was a significant moment in history. It took over 2 years for the message to arrive, but its impact was deeply appreciated by all who were finally freed. Luke Timmerman's acknowledgment of #black #leaders in the #biotech industry is commendable. It is an honor to work in an industry that unites humanity in the pursuit of healthier lives and a healthier planet. Like the #juneteenth message it has been a long time coming but it is great to see #diversity grow in leadership roles in the biotech industry.
