Happy Pride! As the new CEO of The Center, I’m excited to step forward, together, toward a brighter future for New York’s courageous LGBTQ+ community. The Center is a safe space to find refuge, acceptance, and connection for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers who often feel alone, and continues to be that lighthouse for so many in need. Pride is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty, uniqueness, and bravery of LGBTQ+ people—and also serves as a reminder that our work is still far from over. Last year, states across the nation introduced over 400 bills to roll back LGBTQ+ equality and limit life-saving access to gender-affirming care. In the face of this adversity, The Center stands proudly as a place to cultivate joy, strength, and progress—as it always has and always will. I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the past 40 years. But even so, I know that we need to do more. Whenever our community is in need, the collective support of our community ensures The Center can respond. Our mission is as vital as ever! We can’t do it alone. Stand with us as we move forward together! Donate to The Center at https://lnkd.in/epMkK5-Z today!

In the quest for equality and support, one stark reality often overlooked is the disproportionate underfunding of LGBTQ organizations. At The Trevor Project, we are acutely aware of this challenge, which a recent insightful article by my fabulous colleague, Tina M. Barber, MPA, in Philanthropy News Digest brilliantly brings to light. https://lnkd.in/gbsfHKaD This insightful piece sheds light on the challenges faced by organizations like ours and underscores the urgency for equitable funding. It's not just about maintaining operations – it's about expanding our reach to ensure that every LGBTQ+ young person who needs support can access it. I see every day how vital these services are and how much more we could achieve with increased support. As we continue our mission to provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention services, I invite our partners and the broader community to join us in this endeavor. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ youth. #LGBTQSupport #Philanthropy #TheTrevorProject #InclusiveFunding

To my fellow social media managers: Pride month has started, and I want to encourage you all to approach this time with authenticity and purpose, not just profit. Far too often, brands treat Pride as a mere marketing opportunity, slapping rainbows on our logos and pushing product sales without truly supporting the LGBTQ+ community. This is not only hurtful to the queer community but can actively damage trust and credibility. Instead, I challenge us to use our platforms to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, highlight essential causes, and show up as true allies - not just during June but year-round. Donate portions of profits to LGBTQ+ organisations, collaborate with queer creators, and use your reach to educate and inspire. Pride is about celebrating hard-won rights and uplifting marginalised identities. Let's not reduce it to a corporate cash grab. #PrideMonth #LGBTQMarketing #SocialMediaManager #AuthenticBranding #CorporateAllyship ( this is an AI generated image🙈)

What is “Rainbow Washing?” Rainbow washing, defined as using rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality without meaningful advocacy, is a sneaky marketing tactic. Companies often splash rainbows and LGBTQ imagery in June but forget about it later. This practice, termed "optical allyship," is wrong and unethical, especially when companies harm the LGBTQ community. How to Avoid Rainbow Washing Your Brand: 1. Stay consistent in advocacy. 2. Elevate LGBTQ+ voices. 3. Embrace workplace diversity. 4. Donate to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. 5. Speak out against injustice. Move forward by being a genuine ally year-round, not just during Pride month. Let's strive for authentic support and allyship beyond the rainbow-colored marketing gimmicks. #HappyPride!

In our office, we believe in fostering a space of inclusivity and understanding for everyone. As we embrace a new year, let's revisit the importance of LGBTQ+ issues and commit to year-round advocacy. 🌈 Educate Yourself Continuously: Knowledge is a powerful tool for change. Take the time to educate yourself about LGBTQ+ history, struggles, and triumphs. The journey to equality involves understanding, and it begins with each of us being informed advocates. 🌈 Promote Inclusivity Every Day: Equality is not a one-month affair; it's a continuous effort. Let's pledge to promote inclusivity, respect, and acceptance every day. Small actions, conversations, and gestures contribute to a more inclusive and supportive community. 🌈 Support LGBTQ+ Causes: Identify and support organizations dedicated to LGBTQ+ causes throughout the year. Whether through volunteering, donations, or simply amplifying their voices, every effort counts in creating a more equitable world. 🏳️⚧️ Advocate for Trans Rights: As we strive for equality, it's crucial to amplify the voices of our transgender community members. Advocate for trans rights, challenge discrimination, and stand up against inequality whenever you encounter it. Let's make 2024 a year of unwavering support, understanding, and progress for the LGBTQ+ community. Our commitment to equality knows no bounds!

June is Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 For the month of June, we'll have some weekly LGBTQ+ Housing facts for you. The LGBTQ+ community tends to be significantly younger than the non-LGBTQ+ population. Specifically, 52% of individuals identifying as LGBTQ+ are under 35 years old, while only 23% of those identifying as straight and cisgender fall into the same age group. These age disparities account for roughly half of the difference in homeownership rates between LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ individuals, as younger people are generally less likely to own homes compared to older individuals.

I help elevate individual, team, and organizational performance. As a past ICF-LA President, trusted C-Suite advisor, & facilitator with CMO & GM experience, I’ve even helped Tony Robbins develop his products.
As we continue through June, our feeds are filled with rainbow logos and "Love Is Love" messages. But many in the LGBTQ+ community are questioning the authenticity of this support. "Rainbow capitalism" and "pinkwashing" often overshadow genuine efforts for equality. The real question is: How can brands authentically support LGBTQ+ communities? Consumers today want actions, not just symbols. So, if you're a well-meaning brand, consider these steps: 🌈 Support queer and trans creators. 🌈Establish forward-thinking policies for LGBTQ+ employees. 🌈Integrate LGBTQ+ advocacy with other social justice efforts. 🌈Invest in year-round contributions to LGBTQ+ causes. Retire the rainbow logo and let your actions represent your true allyship through consistent, meaningful actions. ✨ With Peter Gandolfo, MBA, Executive Coach (PCC) #PrideMonth #LGBTQSupport #AuthenticAllyship #ExecutiveCoach #InclusionMatters

It's World Pride Month....and sorry adding a rainbow to your product is not Allyship - it's marketing. While it's wonderful to see rainbows everywhere, it's important to remember that true allyship goes beyond adding a rainbow to your product or website. Allyship means: ❤️ Listening and Learning: Taking the time to understand the experiences and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community. 💜 Supporting and Empowering: Amplifying LGBTQ+ voices, supporting LGBTQ+ businesses, and advocating for equal rights. 💙 Creating Inclusive Environments: Ensuring your workplace and products are genuinely inclusive and safe for everyone, not just during Pride Month but all year round. 💛 Taking Action: Donating to LGBTQ+ causes, participating in events, and pushing for policies that support the community. Adding a rainbow to your product can be a symbol of support, but without meaningful action, it risks being seen as just another marketing tactic. Let's make this World Pride Month not just about visible support, but about real, impactful allyship. Together, we can make a difference. #worlpridemonth #LGBTQplusallyship #inclusiveworkplace #realsupport
