Our Administrative Professional team is sensational !!

Everyone remembered the Nilla Wafers and taco nights. Had the honor of attending a celebration of life for a 99- and 103-year-old couple who passed within a year of one another.  As I didn’t know the couple well, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the service or to be as deeply moved as I was by the stories that were shared. I was struck by how much of my time I spend thinking about things that won’t make much of a difference in the impact I make during my short time here. As I think about the legacy I leave, I will look to Marg and Lloyd for the example they set. My takeaways: • What their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remembered most was their love, the way they lived their lives, and how they treated others.   • Memories were mostly about quality time spent with family (often over tacos and Nilla wafers). Traditions matter. • What they said mattered much less than what they did. How does this relate to my approach to work and life? • The relationships I build along the way are worth far more than the title or the paycheck.  • The traditions we create don’t have to be Instaworthy, they just have to be real. • The moments matter. Between coworkers, friends and families.  Take the time, make the connections. Everyone wins.

My #InsuranceStory: I went to college for Criminal Justice and Arabic. Super insurancey right?!?! WRONG! I worked in various #jobs in Probation and Parole, Corrections as well as a social worker after I graduated. They were all jobs to me. I went overseas and became a defense contractor. I was responsible for going off base and surveying battle damaged vehicles and bringing them back to base for retrograde or disposing of them. Essentially material damage adjusting or field auto appraising of multi-million dollar vehicles. I was getting ready to come home and end my second contract and I put an application at Erie Insurance Group. Why? Advice from my Father: "If you're going to come back to your hometown, you might as well work at the best company in your hometown while you figure out what you want to do next." Little did I know what would come next is 11 great years with the organization, countless friendships and partnerships. Insurance was meant to be a stepping stone to something else. Yesterday marked my six-month anniversary since being promoted to Director of Business Development at Court Enforcement Services. Reflecting on my time in post so far fills me with immense pride and excitement for what lies ahead. In these past six months, our team has achieved remarkable feats together: - Enhanced Collaboration: We've implemented new ways of working collaboratively, which has benefitted both our team internally and our clients, who have recognised a more fluid service. - Empowering Team Members: It's been incredibly rewarding to witness team members not only stepping into their own and thriving in their roles, but absolutely flourishing. - Enhanced Service Levels: During this period, we've received some of the highest placement volumes of the year. However, alongside this we've also worked to reduce visit times and increase recovery rates. Notably, both monthly visit volumes and remittance values have increased for many clients, which shows the dedication of our Operations Team and their commitment to delivering industry-leading results. - Strengthened Client Relationships: Above all, we've deepened our relationships with both new and existing clients by demonstrating our unwavering commitment to being a professional, client focused and approachable High Court enforcement partner. I'm proud of what the first six months has brought, and with some really exciting projects already in the pipeline, I have no doubt that the remainder of this year will be filled with even more accomplishments, growth, and success..... watch this space 👀

This week Saylor celebrated our 3rd birthday 🤯 I am so proud of the crew and all we've achieved. Below is my little welcome message to the team at our annual offsite where we painted, solved a murder/mystery, and ate a deliciously chaotic Hibachi din. Thought I'd share... - Welcome to Saylor’s 3 year old birthday party!! As many of you know... I have a 6 month old. She is incredibly cute and is growing and changing dramatically on a weekly basis. When she was born she could barely open her eyes and poop. She was navigating the world for the first time. 6 months later - she’s alert, joyful, pooping a lot… but struggles too. She’s learning how to sit up, eat solids, and sleep through the night. Now that’s a 6 month old. When I picture her at three years old… she’ll be walking and talking, learning how to put on her own shoes, asking questions about the World, and learning how to play with other kids. 6 months after founding Saylor - we hired our first employee. Today... Saylor turns three and we are a team of 41. Now we’re a bit more mature than a three year old child, but it's important to remember how much more we have to learn. After three years we’re still doing things for the first time, we’re asking questions about our place in the world, and we’re learning how to work together better. This is such a critical time for us as a company. We have momentum with our clients & partners, an incredible team, and a clear strategy. We’re just three years old. Imagine when we turn 5 or 10 or 20. We have such an exciting life ahead of us and I can’t wait to get old together.

Happy 4th of July all! This holiday is especially important to me as it’s the anniversary of my commitment to public service. This year carries a little extra sentiment as it marks 15 years of public service. I am hoping this is the halfway point of my career, if not sooner. Every year, I use this opportunity to reflect on things I’ve learned along the way: 1) Treat others as though you were on the other side of the desk. I often encounter individuals who are facing adverse actions: loss of a loved one, terminally ill, homeless, commission of a crime, and more. If you have good health, a job, roof over your head, and food on your table…consider yourself blessed. 2) Learn a new skill by teaching others. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching college courses as well as training new employees into the agency. The best way to learn a difficult or complex topic is to teach it to someone else. You’ll force yourself to learn and understand the material, so you don’t look like a fool in front of your colleagues. This is also a great opportunity to add value to yourself as an employee. 3) Accept the challenges that come your way. I’m often tasked with some of the most difficult and stressful cases in our office. These cases aren’t given to me because my boss hates me, but rather my boss has enough trust in me to get the job done. If your boss gives you something difficult, thank him/her for the opportunity to show your skills and abilities. If you fail, it becomes a learning/teaching moment (See number 2). Don’t be afraid of the challenge. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve all those who I’ve come in contact with. I look forward to the fireworks that the next 15 years will bring!

Today, I'm lucky enough to celebrate another birthday: we've made it to level 33! 32 was a fantastic year: I joined the PureCars team, experienced both personal and professional growth, and achieved so many of the goals I wanted to knock out in the year. There were so many lessons I learned at 32, but here are just a few that stood out: 1.) Recognize and Proactively Fight Burnout: Communicate when you're approaching burnout and work with your team and managers--candid, honest and respectful conversations tend to lead to stronger trust within your teams. 2.) Re-evaluate how you prioritize your to-do's: I had a bit of a process spring cleaning last year: in a world where everything needs to be done 5 minutes ago, revisit what's actually considered an emergency and what can be project-managed out. You'll save your sanity and prevent the dreaded 13/14 hour days. 3.) Don't leave friends and family on the back burner: We've got one life to live, spend it with those who care about you: work smart during the day, so that you can enjoy the quality time with loved ones after. Here's to another year of progress, growth and adventures in The Windy City!
