There is a poem known to Japanese schoolchildren that presents the distinct styles of three warlords during Sengoku Period (Oda Nobunaga, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and Ieyasu Tokugawa) and their characters. A parable was told that each of these three leaders was gathered in a garden when a bird landed on a limb. A Zen Master then asked each of them what they would do if the bird doesn’t sing. Oda Nobunaga answered : If a bird doesn't sing, kill it. Hideyoshi Toyotomi answered : If a bird doesn't sing, make it sing. Ieyasu Tokugawa answered : If a bird doesn't sing, wait for it to sing. So, in case of making a decision which type of warlord are you ? If you ask me, I take sides between Ieyasu and Hideyoshi because Oda was too careless. Sometime we have to wait, understanding the situation first. And when the timing is right, then we take a move. 😁

According to the scriptures we are His masterpiece, the Greek word for masterpiece is poem, which is where we get the English word poem, thus your life is a living poem being written out by the Master, chapter by chapter, a never ending story… be encouraged today!

#CNY #Culture Courtesy Reminder: Use the Four-character idiom Chengyu carefully 🧧 中國農曆新年春節禮儀提示 [二] #四字成語 不能亂用 One of the ways to show respect for the local Chinese culture is to use some extracts from the classic poems or four-character idioms "#Chengyu". However, each of these poems and idioms has a story #origin and a specific #context. We should be very careful about their meanings and implications if we want to use them in important occasions, such as CNY greetings. Last year, I received a greeting card from a startup (obviously founded by non-Chinese) using an idiom relating rabbits #狡兔三窟. First of all, the first character means "cunning" [1], which is not a positive attribute. It is also often used to describe people in a negative way (such as criminals, suspects, etc) [2]. Lastly, if you know the story behind this idiom, you would know that Lord Mengchang(孟嘗君), the key figure, had a pathetic ending of his life [3], which I learnt it from my Chinese teacher when I was 16. So improper use of idioms could lead to embarrassment and disrespect to your guests and friends. The forthcoming year is a year of the #Dragon 青龍年 and there are a lot of good choices of greeting lines you can use. If you are a non-Chinese and want to share the joy of CNY by greeting your friends and partners, just make sure you consult some Chinese friends or partners, before you mass sending them. (for example, you won't want to use 龍蛇混雜 as a greeting line this year..) I hope the above is useful and enjoy CNY! YOU ARE WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE " Oh this lady is not fine enough". "Oh this guy is not handsome enough ". "Oh this lady doesn't have a big bum ". I keep hearing these kind of comments and as sarcastic as this sounds, you see people trying to do things that on a normal day they wouldn't do and it destroys their sense of self worth. They mount pressure on themselves as a result of listening to these demeaning opinions from people.Learn how to edit opinions and throw rubbish to the bin and keep moving. Thanks to those kind of negative opinions but tell yourself "I am evolving" because part of having the fear of God is to submit to the word of God as final say in all matters of your life. The Bible says "you are light and salt", It also says " now are we the sons of God and it does not yet appear what we shall be". In Min Sinach's popularly known song titled " I KNOW WHO I AM " , there's a part of the song that says " Take a look at me I'm a wonder,it doesn't matter what you see now". In other words, don't let my current appearance or situation deceive you.I know you've been singing this song but never took time to understand this particular phrase of the song. There's more within you than you can ever imagine.Do you know how many people who are secretly praying to be you? Your focus is on beauty and outward appearance whereas people are seeing different things in you such as virtues and solid characters worth emulating. Yes, you can be a work in progress but it doesn't mean you should be complacent.You need to rise above every limitation in your life and refuse to allow limitations define you.
