Surgeons are not just LEADERS in the operating room, but also have a critical role to play in ADVOCATING for BOTH their PATIENTS and THEMSELVES. CHAMPIONING CHANGE: SURGICAL ADVOCACY IN ACTION Surgical advocacy tackles a wide range of important issues. Let's highlight three Key areas: Supporting Women in Surgery: 1.Maternity leave policies and access to lactation rooms in workplaces are crucial for ensuring breastfeeding surgeons can continue to provide exceptional care while balancing the demands of motherhood. 2.Resident Well-being: Excessive work hours can lead to burnout and impact patient safety. Advocating for reasonable work schedules for residents in training is essential for their well-being and future success. 3.Mental wellness for Surgeons: At the forefront of every surgery is a Mere Mortal, A Surgeon and his (her) operating team members. These people need to be taken care of at most times. They need psychosocial support in the decisions they have to make and the journeys they face with their patients. By speaking up and advocating for positive change, surgeons can create a more conducive environment for everyone involved in surgical care. WHAT ONE STEP WILL YOU TAKE? Surgical advocacy starts with YOU. Here are some ways to get involved: Join a surgical advocacy organization. Reach out to your local representatives and voice your concerns. Mentor and support aspiring surgeons, particularly women in surgery. We would like to congratulate David L. Cochran, DDS, MS, PhD, one of RevBio’s Dental Advisory Board members, on being awarded the prestigious Nobel Biocare Brånemark Osseointegration Award last month at the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) 2024 Annual Meeting. This esteemed award, given annually by the Osseointegration Foundation (OF), honors an individual whose impact on implant dentistry is exemplary in any or all the Foundation’s mission categories: research, education, and charitable causes.    Following this high achievement, Dr. Cochran had the opportunity to appear on the “AO Spotlight: Conversations in Implant Dentistry” video podcast series with hosts Wesley S. Mullins, DDS and Jonathan M. Rogers, DMD (aka The Dental Guys). Dr. Cochran reflects on his 35 years in dentistry and shares his impactful work as one of RevBio’s clinical advisors who was heavily involved with the TN-SM pivotal animal study and clinical study.   Dr. Cochran is enthusiastic about TETRANITE's game-changing clinical benefits.
