For years, Indonesian people have been propagandized about the 30 September Movement on 30 September-1 October, 1965 (which killed six generals) which is always said to be carried out by the Communist Party of Indonesia. As the result of that accusation, the Indonesian government through its army, carried out mass killings targeting members and sympathizers or, let's say, alleged sympathizers of the party which resulted in the deaths of 500,000 to 1,000,000 people. I'm not a communist but what the Indonesian government did at that time was a crime against humanity, the history of it has mostly been erased or skipped. A black stain in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, very bad. I don't want to go into too much detail about this since I'm still an Indonesian citizen, I also generally don't really like talking about the government of the Republic of Indonesia, it's not comfortable for me. I hope that this country can become better in the future. #indonesia #indonesian #indonesians #republicofindonesia #republikindonesia #history #indonesianhistory #realhistory #hiddenhistory #communistpartyofindonesia #partaikomunisindonesia #pki #g30spki #g30s #communism #komunisme #communist #communists #sofiaflorina #ソフィアフロリナ

Pancasila Day, though not a public holiday, is a day of peringatan (“commemoration” ) for the Lima Asas Pancasila (“Five Principles of Pancasila” ). These principles are the cornerstone of Indonesian government and society, and they are: 1. Belief in the One True God 2. A just and civilized humanity 3. The unity of all Indonesians 4. Democracy under the wisdom of a popular collective of representatives 5. Social justice for all Indonesian people These are the principles that were laid down by Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, in 1945, right before the country gained its freedom and independence. This ideologi (“ideology” ) was a way of ensuring kerukunan (“harmony” ) amongst the diverse groups of people all throughout Indonesia. The thread of monotheism that runs through the Five Principles of Pancasila helped maintain greater peace amongst Christians and Muslims, and the other four principles promised equal rights and representation for all Indonesians. On Pancasila Day, Indonesians are encouraged to commemorate and reflect on their dasar negara (“national principle” ).

I created MANAAKI with the purpose of removing the prejudices associated with Māori and indigenous products and to celebrate Māori culture. Therefore, I see it is my duty to condemn the dangerous Treaty Principles Bill that was introduced to Aotearoa New Zealand’s Parliament last week. This bill threatens the existence of Māori culture under the guise of ‘equality’ or ‘All Lives Matter’ and will remove Māori rights from our constitution. Te Tiriti o Waitangi has protected Māori tino rangatiratanga (self-determination) since it was signed in 1840 despite many breaches over time from its treaty partner, The Crown. Already, The Treaty Principles Bill has caused much division and fear among New Zealanders and continues to perpetuate negative stereotypes towards Māori. In the words of The Polynesian Panther Party, I say ‘Educate to Liberate’. I have attached the best summary I could find, a TikTok link from Riana Te Ngahue below that can summarise what this bill is about. I hope this post will prompt anyone who is unsure about this bill to learn more. I also encourage other local businesses to share their support to iwi Māori by condemning this bill on their platforms. https://lnkd.in/gXMYMfEk #toitūtetiriti #manamotuhake #neverceded #indigenousrights

#andOneMoreThing #9: Respect, Revolt, and the Right to Self-Determination I'm still reeling from the powerful display of cultural pride and protest that unfolded in New Zealand's parliament recently. A group of #Maori lawmakers, led by 22-year-old MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, performed a traditional haka to oppose a controversial bill that threatens the uniqueness of the Maori community. The Treaty Principles Bill, which aims to reinterpret the foundational 1840 Treaty of #Waitangi, has sparked intense debate and outrage among the Maori people. The treaty promised Maori the right to retain their lands and protect their interests, but the bill seeks to extend these rights to all New Zealanders, undermining Maori #sovereignty. Maipi-Clarke's bold actions in parliament, which included ripping up a copy of the bill, have made headlines and inspired a wave of protests across the country. The image of Maori lawmakers performing the haka, a traditional war dance that symbolizes strength, unity, and resilience, is a powerful reminder of the importance of cultural identity and self-determination. As we reflect on this momentous event, let's remember the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Let's celebrate the courage and conviction of leaders like Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke, who are fighting to preserve the cultural heritage and rights of their communities. What can we learn from this incident? - The importance of cultural pride and identity - The value of diverse perspectives and voices in decision-making - The need for inclusive and equitable policies that respect the rights and interests of all communities Let's continue to promote greater understanding, empathy, and solidarity across cultures and communities. #andOneMoreThing #Maori #NewZealand #IndigenousRights #CulturalPride #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Leadership #Protest #Haka #TreatyOfWaitangi #SelfDetermination #CulturalHeritage #SocialJustice https://lnkd.in/dmiyUjdQ

The lesson derived from the text highlights the importance of vigilance against the emergence of figures who claim to bring truth without legitimate foundations. History teaches us that deception and falsehood often disguise themselves as justice or religion. We are reminded to remain steadfast in upholding authentic teachings, adhering to the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ, and protecting ourselves from manipulations that could lead us astray. True truth is always aligned with divine revelation and proper guidance. This principle is particularly relevant to the context of governance in Indonesia. The nation's leadership has, at times, faced challenges where figures or movements claimed to represent the people’s will or religious principles, yet acted contrary to the foundational values of justice and integrity. For Indonesia to uphold its democratic ideals and Pancasila values, it is crucial for leaders and citizens to critically evaluate claims of truth or justice and ensure that policies and actions align with moral and constitutional principles. This vigilance safeguards the nation's unity and prevents divisions rooted in misinformation or the misuse of religion for political gain. #LeadershipValues #EthicalLeadership #IntegritasDalamPemerintahan #PrinsipPancasila #DemokrasiIndonesia

In my column in Sin Chew Daily published on July 12, 2024, I stressed that the result of the Sungai Bakap by-election does not represent the growth of a "green wave," but rather, it has unfortunately transformed into a "public discontent wave." There are two reasons for this: (1) the low turnout of non-Malay voters and the high turnout of Malay voters. This reflects the discontent among non-Malays, especially the Chinese, who demonstrated their dissatisfaction by refusing to vote, while the Malays, with a 70% turnout rate, expressed their discontent more aggressively. In fact, 80% of them voted for Perikatan Nasional (PN); (2) PN focused its campaign strategies more on criticizing Anwar's policies, such as cutting subsidies and implementing e-invoicing, rather than on 3R issues (race, religion, and royalty).
