By now, we're all used to hearing about carbon sequestration and carbon markets. But how does carbon sequestration really work on rangelands, and what are the benefits and risks of taking part in carbon markets?
Learn the answers to these questions and more by checking out the webinar "Carbon: It's What's for Lunch." Co-hosted by two members of our Drought Advisors team-- Annie Overlin and Retta Bruegger from CSU Extension-- experts in the field share about carbon markets, carbon in rangelands, and long-term experiments with grazing treatments and how these impact carbon.

Today is World Environment Day.
This year's theme is "Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience".
It is an opportunity to remind us as #earth occupants that “Our Land, Our Future.”
Our actions and inactions affect the quality of life and livelihood. Always think of the impacts before you do it.

This week is a busy week - I am splitting time between #NYClimateWeek and #OCEANS.
As with all conferences, there are lots of great events, panels, sessions, and great conversations. But what really gets me excited is seeing real world examples of putting the ideas we discuss at these convening to practice. It's a great week for that.
First, the US Congress held a *BI*partisan hearing on advancing RD&D for mCDR last week. We know that #mCDR, and #CDR generally, needs support from governments around the world to reach the sustained scales of 10+ billion tons *per year*. So discussions like this one are a crucial first step. There are a number of bills being introduced to support #mCDR RD&D and I look forward to tracking their progress. You can find the recording of the hearing here: https://lnkd.in/gEVivSA4
Second, CarbonRun grabbed front page (!) space in the NY Times this week with a story about their river alkalinity enhancement technology. I've followed the rapid growth of CarbonRun and its really remarkable to track their progress (now with a $25M offtake agreement with Frontier). Even better, the article more broadly discusses the steady progress to do controlled, careful research of ocean alkalinity enhancement.

So, let's keep pushing. This is just the beginning.
The world’s ‘carbon tub’ is overflowing. How can we slow the tap and open the plug on carbon emissions?
In our recent webinar on scaling carbon management solutions, our experts discussed the potential of carbon markets and carbon removals to rapidly reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and shared actionable insights to help us meet the 1.5-degree challenge. 🌎 https://mck.co/3WdPWqD#CarbonManagement#McKinseySustainability
A step forward in climate action through nature-based carbon credits? 🌿
As carbon markets evolve, nature-based solutions promise real potential for emission reduction. But how do we balance ambition with accountability? Our event — partnered with Klimate.co and Agreena — will unpack the legal, economic, and environmental challenges of scaling nature-based carbon credits globally.
Join an expert-led discussion and gain insights into what’s next for carbon credit markets at our upcoming event on 24 September.
✍️ Registration now open for Webinar 3 in our series. It will take place on 19th September, focusing on the non-technical challenges that Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage #CCUS faces across social, economic, political and legal dimensions. https://lnkd.in/e2JDDm2j
[Blog] Can engineered landfills be part of the global climate and energy transition?
👉 Landfills have bad press. But there are landfills and landfills. 80 to 90% of the biomethane produced in the landfill cells over a 50-years period could be recovered, rather than leaked to the atmosphere.
📰 This blog aims to introduce The Waste Management & Research article “Enhancing Landfill Efficiency to Drive Greenhouse Gas Reduction: A Comprehensive Study on Best Practices and Policy Recommendations” which will be out during the ISWA congress.
