Did you know? Researchers found that more than three-quarters of children who've engaged in active mobility continue to do so two to four years later. On the other hand, only a small number of children started being active if they hadn't been before. New research from the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), a Brussels-based advocacy group, has confirmed that if a city has more bike lanes, more people will cycle. The results will give campaigners and urban planners a substantial footing to argue for more cycling infrastructure in towns and cities around the world. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eCzXNS24

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out to invite you to support my journey as a paracyclist. 🚴♂️ As some of you may already know, I’ve embarked on this exciting sporting adventure with great determination and have been fortunate enough to win my first national titles in paracycling. On my Facebook, Instagram, and Strava pages (see links below), I regularly share my progress, training sessions, competitions, and the challenges I face on the road to achieving my goals. Visibility is key to attracting partners and sponsors, as the financial and logistical aspects of paracycling are crucial parts of this journey. In many ways, cycling mirrors professional life: whether on the road or in our careers, the key is to stay the course, move forward with perseverance, and adapt to the challenges ahead. Every pedal stroke, like every decision, brings us closer to our goals, as we cultivate resilience, teamwork, and determination. 🏅 Step 1: I invite you to follow my pages on social media to stay updated on my adventures. 🏅 Step 2: If possible, please share these pages with your network to help increase my visibility, which is crucial for attracting sponsors. Thank you all for your continued support. I look forward to sharing this journey with you! 🚴♂️ 📲 Facebook: https://lnkd.in/e3jt-js9 (Nicolas Baltus - Paracycliste) 📲 Instagram: https://lnkd.in/eEUbrddW (@nico_paracycling) 📲 Strava: https://lnkd.in/e3P6Z62V (Nicolas Baltus) #Paracycling #AdaptedSports #Resilience #Cycling #Inclusion #Sponsors #Networking #Determination 📷 by Ilse Vdb, Champion of Belgium 2024 (Cat. Sustrans are the custodians of the National Cycle Network - 12,000 miles of interconnected routes for walking, wheeling and cycling across the UK. Approximately 50% of people live within one mile of the Network, and more than a third live within a 10-minute walk. The Network plays a vital role in giving people the freedom to move and explore, build up confidence, connect with nature and forge lasting friendships. We’re celebrating its impact on communities and individuals across the country. The Network is for everyone - and it’s not just for cycling. It provides accessible routes into nature, helping a PhD student explore her new home city, as a backdrop to a community cycling group, and as vital pathways for wellbeing walking groups. We’ll be sharing more of these individual personal stories over the coming months, demonstrating the impact and importance of protecting and providing these routes for people across the country. The diverse Network, linking urban and rural communities across the UK, creates space to move in a safe and accessible way. #LittleRedSign #NationalCycleNetwork #PathsForEveryone #Sustrans #ActiveTravel #SustainableTransport #Cycling #Walking #Wheeling #Exploring #Adventure #FreshAir #Nature #Community #AccessToNature #ConnectingCommunities

The Department for Transport's latest figures show that road casualties have barely decreased over the past decade, with cyclist and pedestrian fatalities flatlining. In 2023, 87 cyclists lost their lives, and while total cyclist casualties were down 4% from 2022, the overall pace of progress is too slow. We're calling for a joined-up approach on cycling infrastructure to create safer cycle networks that connect villages, towns and cities. Only with proper investment and planning can we save lives and make cycling and walking safer for all 🚶♂️🚴♂️.
