School feeding and nutrition education Integrating nutrition education in school meals programming plays a crucial role in promoting long-term food security by equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed and healthy food choices. Here are two ways this approach is important: It teaches students about the importance of a balanced diet. By instilling the value of healthy eating from a young age, students are more likely to adopt and maintain nutritious eating habits throughout their lives. It fosters an appreciation for local and traditional foods, considering cultural preferences and availability. This approach helps preserve and promote local food cultures while ensuring that dietary recommendations are practical and culturally sensitive. How important is nutrition education you? Nutritional Therapist, female hormone expert. When our hormones are in balance we are better equipped to handle stress, maintain focus, and build resilience
When I work with clients I often find that they are not eating enough protein, but how much protein do you need?* Ideally around 0.8g per Kg of weight, however as we enter menopause we need to increase that slightly to about 1g per Kg. This is to support both the health of our muscles and our bones. To give you an idea on protein levels of foods: 1 egg = 13g 100g Chicken = 31g 30g Cashews = 6g 30g Chia Seeds = 5g Once you are aware of it, it is quite easy to achieve a good level. Protein also helps keep us fuller for longer - so the key is to make sure you eat a little at each meal. *this increases if you are doing a lot of training How do you think you measure up on the protein front?

“Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food”- Hippocrates I’ll never stop educating myself in my craft. One thing that I’ve learned from meal planning for athletes and various clientele with different dietary restrictions is that, “what you put into the body is what you get out.” Knowing things such as which foods are auto inflammatory, the process of how food breaks down in the body and knowing which foods are natural blood thinners are amongst the wealth of nutrientional facts that I’ve gained along the way. Are you in need of weekly/monthly meal planning, interested in a private chef or just need a hand in navigating the best ways to clean eating without sacrificing taste or breaking the bank? Let’s chat.
