🌟 Celebrating the end of Black History Month and beginning of Women's History Month by reflecting on our commitment to support underrepresented entrepreneurs year-round. More than 90% of our founders are people of color (majority Black) and more than 68% are women. At the Majira Project, we focus on two crucial pillars: Connections and Capital. 📎 Connections: We facilitate meaningful connections for our entrepreneurs, from executive staff recruitments to tech assistance for climate tech prototypes. Over 40% of our companies return to mentor new ones, showcasing the value of our network. 💰 Capital: While not directly involved in all fundraising efforts, our program boosts average revenue by over $500,000 for companies a year after joining. Collectively, our cohort companies have raised over $600 million and created over 1700 job opportunities. 📈 Yet, there's still work to be done. Structural shifts are needed to truly support Black entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, and other underrepresented groups. We need to recognize their value, innovation, and contributions year-round. They deserve genuine support and investment throughout the year, and we will continue to do our part to make that happen. If you would like to support our work, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support our work: https://lnkd.in/g5bUa-U9 #MajiraProject #BlackHistoryMonth #WomensHistoryMonth #GrowingSeason

Great morning beautiful people! This month, we've delved into the significance of black philanthropy, highlighting 5 key reasons why it's crucial: 🌟 Addresses Historical Inequities 🌟 Promotes Economic Empowerment 🌟 Enhances Community Resilience 🌟 Sets a Precedent for Inclusive Giving 🌟 Drives Social Change Now, let's explore avenues for your philanthropic contributions: 1. Support institutions and organizations that have positively impacted your journey, like your alma mater or a meaningful ministry outreach. 2. Back causes that resonate with you, whether it's eradicating hunger, supporting affordable housing, cancer research, or others close to your heart. 3. Embrace local giving to witness firsthand the impact in your community. Your time, support, and advocacy can elevate causes in ways national donations can't. Consider: 1. Your Alma Mater - GO SSU! Savannah State University 2. A cause you're passionate about, such as youth sports. 3. Embrace local support, like the Carlo and Nika White Foundation championing entrepreneurship and support for black businesses. Stay tuned for more tips on impactful giving! #Philanthropy #CommunitySupport #SocialChange

Join The Common Ground Consortium 501c3 in Celebrating Black Philanthropy Month and Give 8/28! 🌱 DONATE HERE🫶🏽: https://lnkd.in/dyGDYwzb As we celebrate Black Philanthropy Month this August, I want to personally invite you to support a cause that is close to my heart - “Common Ground.” Our mission is to create a world where cultural differences are celebrated, and everyone—regardless of race, identity, or nationality—is seen, heard, valued, and included. Why Your Support Matters: The disparities between funding for Black-led nonprofits and their counterparts are stark. Black-led organizations receive fewer unrestricted funds, corporate donations, and government support. This inequity limits our ability to drive the transformative change that our communities so desperately need. At The Common Ground Consortium, we are committed to bridging these gaps through cultural intelligence, mentorship, and community engagement. Although we are BIPOC-led, our work benefits everyone by fostering unity and understanding across all communities. How You Can Help: - Donate on Give 8/28: Your contribution will help us expand our programs and create a more inclusive world for all. - Spread the Word: Share this post and encourage your network to support Black-led nonprofits like ours. - Get Involved: Join us as a volunteer, mentor, or community ambassador. Together, we can plant the seeds of change and grow something truly remarkable. Let’s make this Black Philanthropy Month one to remember! #BlackPhilanthropyMonth #Give828 #CommonGroundConsortium #InclusiveChange #SupportBlackLedNonprofits #CulturalIntelligence #Mentorship #CommunityEngagement

Today is International Women’s Day… it's a day for support, and a day for action. If you need ideas, read on... International Women’s Day is deeply personal. That may seem obvious, but the reason why is a bit broader. It is personal to me because it celebrates women’s history... 🌹 Women like my grandmothers who beautifully balanced strong careers and motherhood while serving as an example of what is possible.🌹 🏋♀️ Women like my aunts, cousins, and sister who tirelessly find ways to lift up the women around them through their words and actions. 🏋♀️ ✨ Women like my mother who instilled in me a big vision of who I could be, while celebrating who I was in the moment. ✨ It is personal to me because it encourages the future... for my daughters, for my nieces, and for all the young women who will one day change the world. Today, let’s turn the celebration into action. Here are three ideas: 1. Engage with Madam President Camp, the #kansascity non-profit building the next generation of female leaders through programs where middle school girls can be safe, celebrated, and limitless. Donate to the organization, encourage a girl to attend their summer camp series, or volunteer. https://lnkd.in/ghxmg4bS 2. Make a donation to the American Heart Association through my #goredforwomen #womanofimpact campaign. This donation supports life-saving research and education in the Kansas City community and beyond. https://lnkd.in/gEJUvfbj 3. Celebrate a woman today by recognizing something she has accomplished, overcome, or simply tried. Tell her you are proud of her, and tell her why. Tag someone in the comments you want to celebrate today. And tell them why. Together we can make this a day of impact and action. #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2024 photo: Madam President Camp

In order to reach real equity for Black-led organizations, we need to actually SEE Black-led organizations. Yes, we need strategies, funding, and investment, but most importantly: Black-led organizations need to be seen. 💪🏿 Black communities need to be seen. 🤲🏿 Black PEOPLE need to be seen. ✊🏿 When Sonya Massey was brutally murdered, it took a toll on me because it was yet another reminder that Black lives, in the eyes of so many, are not seen and not valued. Contending with that reality is painful, especially at a time when our votes matter more than our voices. The theme for this year’s Black Philanthropy Month is AfroFutures of Giving. But I kept asking myself: what if there is no future for us to give to? How do we invest in the future of a world that doesn’t invest in us? So when I’m at a loss for words, I do what I always do: create. After reaching out to my dear friend ladidai, we co-wrote this piece, Echoes of Glory✨ . Through this process of grieving and organizing, I realized that the future, while stacked against people in the margins, is also CREATED by people in the margins. That’s my desire for BackBlack—to be a platform for Black changemakers to create and FUND the future they wish to see. This year, I am proud to announce that BackBlack is back and stronger than ever. We have over $60K in matching funds and resources available for Black-led nonprofits, with even more funding on the way! Here’s how you can support the movement: 1. Share this post so it gets more reach. 🔁 2. Tag a Black-led nonprofit so they can learn about current funding available and apply. 🏷️ 3. FUND a Black-led nonprofit. If you don’t know how or who to fund, go to BackBlackMovement.org. 🌐 Special thanks to our partners: Givebutter,Neon One,GlobalGiving, Fundraise Up, Grapevine, YOUNG BLACK & GIVING BACK INSTITUTE, Charityvest, Every.org,TheShareWay, Deed, ideas42, GivingTuesday, DonorDock, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, HundredX, Beth Kanter, Giving Gap, Network for Good Donor Advised Fund, and of course Dr. Jackie “Bouvier” Copeland #BlackPhilanthropyMonth #BPM2024 #BackBlack

As we celebrate Black Philanthropy Month, we need to recognize the vital role that Black-led nonprofits play in driving meaningful change within our communities. These organizations are often on the frontlines, addressing systemic inequities and uplifting those who have historically been marginalized. At Parkes Philanthropy, we are committed to supporting and amplifying the voices and efforts of Black-led nonprofits. These leaders bring unparalleled insights, resilience, and dedication to their work—yet they often face significant barriers to accessing resources and funding. As a Black-led consultancy, we’re proud to have also supported many Black-led impact organizations, including No More Under, Broadway Inspirational Voices, DAY CARE COUNCIL OF NEW YORK INC, Teens of Color Abroad and more. This month, and every month, let's challenge ourselves to do more than just acknowledge the contributions of Black-led nonprofits. Let’s actively invest in their success by providing the strategic support, funding, and partnerships they need to thrive. For example, we’re thrilled to see initiatives like BackBlack bringing that support to scale. Together, we can create a more equitable and just society for all. #BlackPhilanthropyMonth #NonprofitLeadership #EquityInAction
