As a technical professional, I thought I had figured out the most if not all but Karnavati University Unitedworld Institute of Design showed me the true meaning of design thinking, creativity, and human-centered approach. The thought-provoking discussions, debates, and activities delivered by the faculty and mentors of the ongoing FDP helped me unlock a new perspective. I learned that designing is not just about aesthetics but about user experience, sustainability, ease of use, added critical values and functionality at its core. After gaining insights into design thinking, I'm eager to apply them in design education to make students industry-ready. I'm excited to collaborate with product designing teams to add value in ways I've learned so far. My goal is to work with students, alumni, professors, professionals, users, and other stakeholders to create a design-practicing community with global brand values. Let's connect and explore how design thinking and emerging technologies can drive positive change in our industries, communities, and the world at large. Together, let's bring this vision to life and create a brighter future, one design at a time! Forever grateful for the transformative journey at Karnavati University Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID). #DesignInstitute #DesignThinking #HumanCenteredDesign #Empathy #Creativity #Purpose #Gratitude #DesignForGood #EmergingTechnologies #Innovation #DesignEducation #FutureOfLearning"

Experience a comprehensive exploration of design's evolution and impact. Design Machine 0 revolves around the exploration of the concepts of 'DESIGN,' 'MACHINE,' and 'TIME,' delving into the significance of time within the realm of design. Students investigate both the historical applications of design and its potential future developments, considering elements such as material, context, technology, and human evolution. The Big Picture 0 Course is an introductory program designed for first-semester learners. It aims to broaden their awareness of diverse notions, scales, and perspectives related to the world around us. Through simple exercises, it seeks to unravel the inherent complexities of 'context' and elucidates why this understanding is pertinent for a designer. #Thesis projects are a practice in sustained effort. 200 ideas overnight is challenging, but 200 ideas spread out over 2 weeks is more manageable. And a class 'leaderboard' helps to keep everyone accountable. Social Innovation researcher & designer | Professor at St. Lawrence College | Master’s of Digital Design & Communications at University of Leeds
I have been studying speculative design in my MA program at the University of Leeds. Within the discipline of speculative design, I came across the term critical design. As The Museum of Modern Art puts it, “Critical Design is speculative, conceptual, provocative, and can be darkly satirical. It does not always lead to usable products, but it does produce long-term thinking, a nuanced view of consumers as complex, contradictory individuals.” Another term I came across is technological solutionism. And since reflective practice is a large part of higher education, I can’t help but wonder about some of the digital comms tools I am designing. For more on the concept of tech solutionism, there’s a good article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (links below). As someone who is slightly rebellious and, perhaps, still ridiculously idealistic, the concept of critical design and tech solutionism has had a profound impact on me. I have been obsessively creating a design series that is…critical. This emotional connection to the concept has made my design process more personal and meaningful. And there’s a sarcasm to my critical design work that clients, for obvious reasons, would never allow, which is childishly fun. For my first piece, I am working on an app to save the world. Right now, it’s a #wip, but stay with me and watch as I finish the project. https://lnkd.in/gmCdkdBz https://lnkd.in/gne5r2vg School of Design - University of Leeds #criticaldesign #speculativedesign #appdesign #mastersofdesign #DesignCritique #ethicaldesign #designresearch #hci
