We’ve had action packed days at The Consumer Goods Forum Summit. What a privilege it is to support collaboration between retailers and manufacturers on key societal topics, such as sustainability, healthier eating, plastics and human rights. Yesterday, Dirk Van de Put and I kicked off the Summit by sharing the progress we've made in the past year, going 'from a moment to a movement'. We’ve already seen strong momentum, such as with 34 members, representing ten percent of the global plastic packaging consumption. These members have signed up for at least one of the nine Golden Design Rules to make packaging more recyclable. Not forgetting there's still enough work ahead of us during our second year as Co-Chairs.
Then, we dived into the key topics immediately, with a DE&I lunch together with Colleen Wegman, CEO of Wegmans, and led by Allyson Zimmermann, CEO of LEAD Network Europe. The conversation is already a Summit highlight. Colleen blew us away by sharing that the division men/women at Wegmans is 50/50 at all levels. Inspiring and it underscores the importance of our own ambitions.
There is much more to come this week, such as the voices from the next generation with Bite Back 2030, on the need for better access to healthy and affordable foods for all generations, a dive-in session on Forest Positive and a presentation on the Northern Stars in Retail.
