Heavy vehicles with low and zero emissions operating in NSW will be subject to an increase in their axle mass limit, the @HVIA reported recently. 🚛🚚 Transport for NSW announced that approved networks will be released online first, followed by access for a range of heavy vehicle combinations under a series of Notices. The Notices will provide reference vehicles that specify maximum axle loads and axle spacing. https://lnkd.in/gTpqtmX8 #transportmanagement #supplychainmanagement #logisticsmanagement

In Portugal, my team and I managed to reduce this type of accident by 70% over 5 years, rollover, with heavy fuel tank trucks, providing practical and theoretical training in advanced driving techniques to 2500 drivers. There are many people interested in these accidents continuing... Safe System Snippet- Understanding the Impact of Crossfall on Truck Stability During Turns Trucks are more likely to roll than skid when travelling too quickly through a curve/corner (unlike cars). That’s why changes in superelevation (i.e. crossfall) within an intersection can have big impacts on vehicle stability. In general, the crossfall adopted for turning roadways where vehicles can turn at moderate speed should desirably not exceed +7% or -3%. For a turn executed at very slow speed (say < 10 km/h), the desirable maximum adverse crossfall (i.e. the vector sum) is -5%. The diagram in this video shows how a 3% crossfall and a 3% longitudinal fall can combine to result in a 4.2% adverse crossfall throughout a right turn. ------------- Find this and more Safe System Snippets on our website- https://lnkd.in/g2khVTy Follow us on LinkedIn Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd. #roadsafety #trafficsafety #trucksafety #safesystem #SafeSystemSnippet

https://lnkd.in/gkQFR_aW The Federal Transit Administration today issued a safety advisory covering approximately 483 battery electric buses produced by Proterra from 2019 to 2022. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall of the vehicles on Sept. 5, 2024. Proterra Catalyst vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2021 and Proterra ZX5 buses produced from 2020 to 2022 were involved in several such incidents in which a radiator fan electrical circuit may overheat, potentially causing a fire, according to NHTSA’s safety recall report. Phoenix Motorcars, which acquired Proterra’s transit bus division after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, will issue a free software update to owners of vehicles subject to the voluntary recall. The update will slow the speed of the radiator fan in an effort to reduce the equipment’s temperature. Posted on Federal Register website today #motorcycle #crashavoidance #technology NHTSA plans to collect information on current consumer perceptions of the utility and availability of the technologies, including consumer willingness to use advanced safety technology on motorcycles and the impact of various contextual factors (e.g., personal, mandates, costs) on this willingness. It is part of a research effort UMTRI is undertaking entitled “Motorcycle Crash Avoidance Technology Review,” which gathers data and performs analysis to summarize the scope of the motorcycle crashes, estimate the prevalence of different crash avoidance technologies available in the fleet, understand the crash avoidance technologies under development, and identify perspectives on advanced motorcycle technologies https://lnkd.in/etdXcPsC

Have you heard of Clean Truck Check? This is a new regulation that applies to nearly all diesel and alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 14,000 pounds that operate on California public roads. This includes both in-state and out-of-state vehicles, as well as public vehicles (federal, state, and local government); motorcoaches; transit, shuttle and school buses; hybrid vehicles; commercial vehicles; personal vehicles; California registered motorhomes; single vehicle fleets; and vehicles registered outside of California (not including motorhomes).
