What green stormwater infrastructure exactly does!

Resilience is the key...better/deeper/stronger pavement to handle higher loads, stormwater systems, etc. so roads last longer. Of course, better inspection methods, documentation and not delaying maintenance is necessary too.

Climate change greatly affects the durability of infrastructure. Rising temperatures and extreme weather events accelerate the deterioration of roads, bridges, communication cables, sewer pipes, and more. Coastal infrastructure is particularly vulnerable to sea-level rise and storm surges. To mitigate these impacts, we must reconsider the trend of implementing uniform engineering solutions without accounting for local constraints. This approach, especially in the context of climate change, needs to be revised. Occasionally, we must plan infrastructure facilities with the understanding that they will need to be rebuilt after a relatively short period. Therefore, cost-effective and simple facility planning is necessary, even if it doesn’t always meet the usual standards. I argue that adaptive regulatory approach is strongly required.
