Some takeaways from VGIC EVolve: - PG&E’s Quinn Nakayama saw the value of V2G primarily in the V2H application, which is notable given PG&E’s plan to power 3M EVs in their territory by 2030 - so lots of opportunity there, but as Ford’s David McCreadie and GM Energy’s Harris Schaer noted, V2H costs need to come down a lot in order for it to scale  - To scale managed charging programs, Xcel's Emmett Romine saw challenges with data collection and integrating VGI into distribution planning, and NY DPS's Zeryai Hagos mentioned metering issues regarding load under-reporting with telematics or other non-revenue grade metering equipment - SCE’s Chanel Parson saw the value of VGI in managing loads at specific areas like ports; like many other panelists, they're also working on grid orchestration through VPPs and flexible interconnection agreements to accommodate new loads - CEC’s Jeffrey Lu and others noted the need for proactive grid planning and investment for EVs and other new loads (sounds familiar!) - CPUC’s Alice Reynolds mentioned the upcoming VGI track in the TE proceeding, where I am sure all of these issues will be resolved 😀 Thanks to the VGIC team especially Zach Woogen for putting on a fun event!

Really looking forward to discussing all the advantages of Microgrids and advanced energy management to support Rove's DC fast charging operations. As we move into a landscape of high powered charging operations deployed on the grid, it is going to be critical that operators manage the demand and deploy in a way that doesn't negatively impact grid operations.
