This is Europa Clipper launch from the Kennedy Space Center. A bunch of Southwest Research Institute colleague of mine were also in attendance. Seeing a launch was on my bucket list. I will never forget this experience. What made it more enjoyable was having my wife Martha and my adult kids, Robert Jr, Vanessa and Valerie there with me. Europa should get to Jupiter in 2030. Go Europa Clipper!

Fired up about flares? We just wrapped up another phase of testing under an ARPA-E Reducing Emissions Every Day of the Year (REMEDY) program, a collaboration with the University of Michigan (prime recipient) and industry partners. Dr. Margaret Wooldridge (Michigan Engineering – Wooldridge Combustion Laboratory) and her amazing team (Jenna Stolzman) are developing novel flare tip designs to tackle the toughest flaring conditions – low flow/pressure and high crosswinds! Our team at Southwest Research Institute (Alex Schluneker, Jessica Brysch, Rebekah Dominguez, Sarah Wheeler) developed a custom flare test facility to provide a reproducible means to evaluate combustion and destruction efficiencies of low-pressure flares at a variety of operating conditions. This setup also provides a way for various flare emissions detection and quantification technologies to be evaluated at a field-relevant scale. Curious about SwRI’s capabilities in emissions, third-party evaluation, and/or our diverse test facilities? Reach out with questions! #Flares #methaneemissions #emission #REMEDY #SwRI #ARPAE #Combustionefficiency
