So, what are the reasons? Here are a few key factors: -International recognition: To be considered an Olympic sport, padel needs to be recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). While it has gained popularity, it is still in the process of establishing itself across all continents. -Federations and regulations: The sport needs an international federation that meets the IOC's requirements, including broad global representation and the organization of standardized international competitions. -Competition for inclusion: The Olympics have a limited number of sports they can include. New disciplines must compete with other established and emerging sports for a spot. -Competition history: The IOC evaluates the history and organization of international competitions. 🔝 OLYMPIC AMBITIONS 🥇 During Paris 2024, so many conversations with friends and colleagues revolved around the Olympic roster, particularly the new sports that debuted, namely Breaking, Sport Climbing and 3x3 Basketball. These are not mainstream sports we follow every day, so, it's always fascinating to see their arrival at the highest level. The Olympic level. 🥈 It also leads to conversations about what sports will enter in the future. And, though it's no longer a question for LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, there are many who think our sport of padel could be due its place as soon (in Olympic terms, at least) as Brisbane 2032. We all know that Australia is a nation that loves its sport, so what are the prospects of padel at the Olympics and how soon can it happen? 🥉 You won't be surprised to hear that I'm an advocate for its inclusion at the earliest opportunity, and we at Hexagon will do all we can to support the sport's growth at the professional and amateur levels to make that dream a reality.
