Did you know that Lyft full-time team members receive a sabbatical after 5 years of service? This gives them a chance to spend their time off traveling, volunteering, or simply relaxing. Elizabeth Trujillo, Program Manager, shares how she spent her recharge visiting Mexico and Iceland: https://lnkd.in/eJb44XBP

Numerous studies have shown that longer term drivers make the company more money, drive safer, and get better reviews. But Lyft's model to date has been more about incentivizing new drivers without anything long term. If I could reach Lyft corporate to make a suggestion or two (as I tried for years while a driver by ever available avenue, including talking in person with the people in corporate who deal with this) I would recommend having milestones in the 5,000, 10,000, 15,000 thousand range. I would modify the app so that riders could request more experienced drivers and pay a small premium for the opportunity. I would offer minor pay incentives to drivers who have a continuously clean record and good standing for years (if for example the average 1-year driver earns the company $10 per day more than a new driver, then offer $3 a day more in compensation for 1-year drivers. Sounds small, adds up to a bill or two being covered just for being more profitable, safe, and loyal. I would consider longer term active drivers for employment opportunities (such as for quality assurance, customer service).

Just food for thought - There have been drivers who have been driving and generating revenue for companies like Lyft for more than 5 years. Can I ask what has Lyft done for those drivers?

Good for the full time team members…but bad and sad for the executive team pushing the big lie of paying drivers 70%, the real true is: less than 50% of the fare paid by riders 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Hey Lyft you need to fix the app. It has caused me to lose out on rides after I wake up extremely early to service your clients on good rides. You really need to also train your phone staff a little better these rides affect family life when I get up at 3:30 am to wind up missing the rides and then have your staff tell me I am lying about where I am posted by an address provided by your client. Maybe you should allow us to speak to the clients in advance as well to make sure the size of the car is correct for their needs

And if you’re only a lowly driver, illegally treated as a private contractor and who, after 8 years, gets deactivated for “alleged” racism by racists working at Lyft? And what if Lyft goes out of business before 5 years of service? And what kind of creepy human being works for racist Lyft corporate anyway??? Tell me smiley! Inquiring minds would like an explanation.

So, I’ve been driving for Lyft for about 10 years. Do I get a sabbatical?

Is this a paid sabbatical? I've been with Lyft over 5 years now . I definitely need one relaxing vacations. Unfortunately we don't get them team member benefits in Louisiana... We are just thankful that we made enough to pay the bills week to week and pray that we don't run our cars in to the ground just trying to stay afloat.

What a fantastic write-up. I definitely resonate with this as I enjoy my Lyft sabbatical 😊. "Taking time away helped me refill my cup, reevaluate my personal priorities, enjoy uninterrupted time away, and reflect." It's a fantastic benefit.

Would be nice to have a career that allowed for a sabbatical. I mean I've been driving Lyft for nine years, being a software engineer for Lyft would be nice. Even if I have to start at the bottom.
