I originally joined the NatWest accelerator program fresh out of lockdown… Because I started a business and 6 months in we had that Covid thing 🤦🏼♀️ but mostly because I had ZERO network or friends who ran businesses that I could talk to, celebrate with or bounce ideas off 💡 And whilst the workshops and coaching have been brilliant having a girl gang of business owners is my FAVOURITE part 💝 *and the fact they will do TikTok’s with me helps too 😂 Michele D'Souza Aveline Rust Alysha Daniels Aprille Russell

I hope a consideration was “good” and how or where they learnt it! And how the demonstrate it in their practice. And the challenges that often prevent people from promoting ethics, or doing the right thing in business is key. A better world needs “braves”, who are supported by a tribe, of invested warriors- also about underpinning structures of “good”. But l am happy for BBBA, whom, l presume had a ministers ears in the last administration- and hopefully in this one too. Do you as a organisation teach a “good” business model that enhances black business development, in equitable practice knowledge? And us that Because you are black - and centred in that approach, ie to reforming business models that are often not leading, but just following what has been done in the past, undefined by black input? Just hoping the answer is yes to all of the above and if it isn’t, maybe build it! l support your aims 🫶🏿🖤🎓

As Pride Month draws to a close, I would like to reflect on the strides made toward equality and the work that still needs to be done. The celebration of diversity, equity and inclusion is not confined to one month but is a continuous journey. For me, celebrating Pride is about building resilience and renewing my commitment to building a more inclusive investment industry. By embracing diverse perspectives, we not only foster a culture of innovation and inclusion but also unlock greater potential for success and impact. To this end, the CFA Institute DEI Code is a roadmap for a more inclusive investment industry. This transformative code provides a structured framework supporting employers, executive leaders, investment professionals, DEI specialists, and HR professionals in crafting impactful and measurable strategies to enable better people management in the investment industry. Let's continue to champion inclusion, recognizing that every voice adds value to our collective mission. Together, we can build an industry where everyone feels respected, empowered, and valued every day of the year. #Pride #Inclusion #Diversity #Resilience
Pride month might be coming to an end, but our commitment to pioneer positive changes around diversity, equity and inclusion is year-round. At CFA Institute we strive to create an environment where every member of our community feels respected and accepted exactly as they are in every aspect of their lives. To mark the end of Pride we asked our employees what this month means to them, read on to hear some of their inspiring comments 🌈 🏳️🌈

🌟 Special shoutout to Alison Delaney from Little Bird People Development on her Community Session as part of the Natwest Accelerator program today! 🚀 Alison tackled the topic of Imposter Syndrome, and it hit close to home for me (and many others based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback)! Transparent moment: battling imposter syndrome and lack of self-confidence has been a real journey for me, not just recently, but over the years! Alison's insights were a game changer, prompting me to reflect on my growth and redefine my core values. There were many key takeaways but here are just a couple: 1️⃣ Celebrate Your Brilliance: It's easy to overlook our achievements. Alison talked about acknowledging and celebrating brilliance. 🎉 Embrace your accomplishments, big and small. 2️⃣ Define Your Values: Take a moment to think about your personal values. What truly matters to you as a person? Mine include empathy, authenticity, knowledge, and integrity. These values guide my decisions and actions both in work and personal life. Rebecca Ridler and I take time on a Monday to recognise our achievements from the previous week. It can be all too easy to get caught up in the things that haven’t gone to plan but actually reflecting on what we have achieved has often made us realise how many good things we have overlooked! How do you battle your inner critic and celebrate success? Let's continue supporting each other on this journey of growth! 💪 Thank you again Alison! #ImposterSyndrome #PersonalDevelopment #Reflection #NatwestAccelerator #CommunitySession #SelfEmpowerment

AT BARCLAYS LAST WEEK. "Many FTSE 100 companies talk the talk, but few truly walk the walk when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Kudos to Barclays for not just making promises, but taking concrete steps to uplift the Black community. Their recent commitment to a £15 million fund, aimed at investing in Black-owned businesses, speaks volumes about their dedication to fostering real change. Partnering with Black Foundervine is a strategic move that aligns with Barclays' mission to empower and support underrepresented entrepreneurs. This initiative goes beyond rhetoric, illustrating Barclays' tangible efforts to drive economic empowerment and inclusivity. Here's to more companies following suit and turning words into impactful actions. #Barclays #DiversityandInclusion #BlackFoundervine #EconomicEmpowerment"

Sunsoa IT Solutions Limited believe in fair treatment when it comes to considering anyone for a new opportunity. You cannot Control why your parents didn't get an education You Cannot Control what College, University they went to You cannot control the grades they had. On top of what we cannot control we here and have suffered these words too many times like, ethnicity, race and culture as being a factor. #Realtalk Lloyds bank did years (a few years) study and found they had a lack of opportunities for coloured people as more legacy admissions. In celebration of Women’s History Month, A Seat at the Table, Vantage West’s women’s leadership group, is highlighting its own women leaders. Today, our AVP of Member Experience Operations, Dawn Lepore, shares her insights on being a woman in leadership: 1. What motivated or inspired you to pursue a career in the credit union movement? My story is similar to many people in the credit union movement in that I didn’t set out to pursue a career in credit unions. I started working in the banking industry in my senior year of college as a part-time teller because it gave me flexible hours while I finished my degree. I moved up in my career but ultimately needed a change and found a job at Vantage West through a former banking colleague. I knew very little about credit unions at that time and have since educated myself about credit union history and how we collaborate to positively impact our Members and communities. I love the work that I do, the people I work with, and the Members who trust us with their financial wellness. I’m proud to share the credit union difference with everyone! 2. What advice do you have for aspiring women leaders? One of the most important things you can do is believe in yourself. Know that you have what it takes to achieve your goals, whatever they are. Then build yourself a network. One of the best ways to do this is by finding ways to be of service to others. This creates genuine connections that will help you grow both personally and professionally. 3. How do you balance the demands of your professional life with personal interests and well-being. I don’t buy into the concept of “work-life balance” because that sets people up to believe that it’s possible to achieve a “perfect” balance. Spoiler alert: there is no perfect balance. 😉 Instead, I prioritize and re-prioritize as things change in my life. Sometimes that means spending more time completing work projects. Sometimes that means taking off early to spend time with my kids or taking a day off for my mental health. I am regularly assessing what is most important and I allocate my time accordingly. I also set myself a lot of reminders and calendar events to stay organized! Thank you, Dawn, for sharing your insights with us and for promoting the credit union difference in our community!

Senior & Executive Insurance Leadership Search Recruitment Specialist: Operations, Claims, CX, Underwriting, Transformation, Diversity in Personal & Commercial Lines - Director/ C-suite/ Head of Level/ SME
I recently saw an article where Aviva CEO Amanda Blanc is spearheading an ambitious initiative to enhance diversity in senior leadership positions. In a recent session with MPs, Blanc revealed that final approval is now required from her and the chief people officer for senior white male recruits. This underscores Aviva's dedication to dismantling gender bias in the UK's financial services sector. As Aviva's inaugural female CEO, Blanc underscores the significance of ensuring a fair and diverse recruitment process. This step isn't rooted in mistrust but in ensuring that every hire is made with inclusivity at the forefront, steering clear of the traditional old boys' network approach. Aviva's policy involves a meticulous review if the preferred candidate for a senior role doesn't contribute to a diverse workforce. This aligns seamlessly with the company's dual focus on securing top talent while fostering an environment that celebrates differences. Blanc, a prominent figure on BP's board, shared insights into the prevalent sexism in the UK financial services sector during the hearing. She emphasized the need for accountability and a robust process for addressing harassment allegations, ensuring that women feel empowered to speak up. Aviva's commitment transcends recruitment, with Blanc championing the Women in Finance Charter initiative. She firmly believes that increasing the representation of women in senior management roles is a pivotal step towards eradicating systemic issues in the industry. If you share the same passion as Amanda and want to ensure that you are taking the right steps in attracting and retaining the top performing diverse talent for the business critical leadership roles in your organisation the I might be able to help. After all, over 57% of our hires since 2017 have been from diverse candidates. to find out more, simply click the link below and we can discuss how I can help you https://lnkd.in/daF3S5GA https://lnkd.in/diZdKzyu

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has made a surprising change to its “Possibilities Summit” for Black college students: It’s opened the program to White students. At Bank of America Corp., certain internal programs that used to focus on women and minorities have been broadened to include everyone. And at Bank of New York Mellon Corp., executives are being urged to reconsider hard metrics for workforce diversity. Lose them, lawyers have advised. This is what diversity, equity and inclusion looks like on Wall Street today: anxious, fraught – and changing fast. Read more about how it today in our `Big Take':
