PATRIZIA and Mitsui, through their joint venture infrastructure fund management firm, PATRIZIA MBK Fund Management, are making a substantial investment of approximately AUD70 million in YES Group. This collaboration aims to drive a significant solar and battery development program in Australia, working in partnership with A-SIF. The investment includes acquiring an equity stake in YES Group and funding the development of a portfolio primarily focused on sub-5MW solar PV generation and battery energy storage solutions across regional Australia. Once fully operational, this portfolio has the potential to generate over 150MW of capacity, equivalent to reducing more than 335,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually compared to coal-fired energy. This initiative builds on the successful partnership between PATRIZIA and YES Group since 2020, where they've already delivered over 60MW of renewable energy projects in regional Australia. Mark Yates, Managing Director of Y.E.S Group, emphasized the vast opportunities presented by the energy transition, and the collaboration with PATRIZIA and Mitsui positions them to seize these prospects effectively. Saji Anantakrishnan, Head of Infrastructure for Australia and Asia at PATRIZIA SE, highlighted their strong commitment to renewable energy and decarbonization. This investment reflects their belief in the long-term potential of renewables and aims to drive the growth of A-SIF in the APAC region. The focus on sub-5MW generation assets ensures diversification, shorter construction times, and less regulatory risk. It's a step toward a greener, sustainable future for Australia. Too often, renewable asset portfolios are left to operate at the lowest levels of acceptable output, assigned to time-poor asset managers with limited specific sector knowledge.   If we are to deliver the energy transition in time to meet our global 2050 net-zero targets, ambitious investors in the sector must consistently look for ways of exceeding expected returns on their investment. Global renewables company Statkraft AS has mandated Danske Bank, DNB, Handelsbanken, and SEB as Joint Lead Managers on a potential dual-currency green bond issuance. Statkraft engaged the financial organisations to organise a group investor call today (3 June) at 13:00 CEST to discuss the green bond issuance. Statkraft noted that a senior unsecured Green Bond transaction will follow subject to market conditions, with NOK-denominated targeted maturities of 5-10 years, and SEK-denominated targeted maturities of 3-4 years. Norway-based Statkraft is rated A/A- (stable/stable) by S&P Global and Fitch Ratings, respectively. #cleanenergy

ECP (Energy Capital Partners) is in advanced discussions to acquire UK-based renewable energy developer Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure Plc. The American private equity firm is finalising the terms of the potential acquisition, with a deal to be announced in spring or early summer 2024. Atlantica initiated a strategic review process aimed at enhancing shareholder value. Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. is a significant stakeholder with 42% of the company. The outcome of the ongoing discussions remains uncertain, and there is a possibility that an agreement may not be reached, or that Atlantica could opt not to proceed. #MergersAcquisitionsDivestitures #PrivateEquity #Energy

Where do institutions invest? 💰In a significant move, institutional investors advised by JP Morgan Asset Management have secured two newbuild offshore wind Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) at Ulstein Verft in Norway. 🍃 These vessels are part of the Ulstein SX222 design ordered by Bernhard Schulte Offshore last year, with JP Morgan acquiring all four optional ships and confirming the first two. The 89.6-meter-long CSOVs will feature hybrid battery propulsion and will be methanol-ready upon delivery. While financial terms and delivery dates remain undisclosed, Bernhard Schulte Offshore's newbuilds are expected to be delivered in 2025. JP Morgan's Global Transportation Group, actively managing over $8 billion💸 in maritime and related assets, expressed enthusiasm about expanding its presence in the offshore wind maintenance sector. The CSOVs are poised to play a crucial role in advancing renewable energy and global energy decarbonization efforts. Ulstein Verft also has additional offshore wind CSOV projects for Olympic and a cable layer for Nexans in its portfolio. Gunvor Ulstein, CEO of Ulstein Group, emphasized the importance of fuel-efficient ships in supporting the offshore wind industry's role in achieving climate goals.

Brookfield Asset Management, Brookfield Renewable and Temasek are planning to buy French renewable developer Neoen for about €6.6 billion, or about $10 billion including debt. The deal would rank as one of the largest take-privates in Europe this year and would come at a time when listed clean-power developers have been drawing takeover interest after declines in their stock prices in the wake of rising interest rates, which are boosting capital-intensive project costs. KKR & Co. offered in March to acquire German renewable-power producer Encavis AG in a€2.8 billion deal, while EQT AB offered to buy Swedish wind developer OX2 AB for $1.5 billion a few weeks ago.
