Onrise is full of former athletes, parents of athletes and former athletes who are now parents of athletes. That matters when deciding who you want to provide mental health care for your team, club, league or players' association. #athletmentalhealth #innovation #linkedinsports #ncaa #naia #njcaa #athletes

As I watch Anne Nizzi-Clark and her husband Brent Clark sitting on the edge of their seats in the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, I can barely keep my eyes open. Like them (on a much smaller scale) I spent the weekend supporting my college-athlete. With over 520,000 NCAA athletes, another 83,000 NAIA, and another 60,000 NJCAA athletes there are around 1.3 million parents plus many more supporters actively helping their athlete live out there dream as long as they can. This past weekend, I drove 5 hours each way to watch JP Quigley's spring game against Davidson. It was a long haul, but seeing him, watching him do what he loves, made every mile worth it. And we won 4-0! Being a parent to a college athlete isn't just about showing up for the games – it's about being there for every aspect of their journey, both on and off the field-- every game stuck on the bench, every injury, every late night cramming for an exam after a game, every minute until their sports careers are done. Every little bit of support matters. They feel it and they know that you are there. There are days when I am juggling a dozen things at once-- trying to keep up with work, two other amazing kids and a husband, and trying to figure out how to lose that last 20 pounds. To all the parents out there who are riding this train alongside me, I want to extend my support. Let's keep standing by our kids, celebrating their victories, listening after their losses, and being their biggest fans through their entire journey on and off the court, field, pitch, etc. #athletementalhealth #onrise #collegeathletics #parenting #innovation #linkedinsports #sports #ncaa

We are in a moment of turmoil in college athletics. Conference realignment is reshaping the NCAA, student-athletes are unionizing to become employees, and each day a new anti-trust lawsuit emerges. In this tumultuous landscape, staying informed is key. The resource I turned to most is D1.ticker, a twice-daily email that offers concise, curated updates to help you navigate this dynamic landscape effectively. https://lnkd.in/gJhc9SH8

Being a head coach in college football is never easy regardless of program, coach, or sub-division. Unlike CFB, the NFL has thirty two head coaches that get the same level of economic funding and an entire scouting department to help them pick the best players applying for the NFL Draft. College coaches have to scour the entire nation and in some cases beyond, to put together the best teams possible. Some coaches get more advantages than their contemporaries based on where they are employed, therefore expectations for each coach varies. In layman's terms, some coaches just do more with less. Here is a list of coaches, who may not be receiving the accolade they may deserve. https://lnkd.in/eycx3Sp8

Sadly, this is one of two articles I have read about rhabdo this week! Using qualified professionals is critical to avoid this preventable condition.
Unfortunately, these incidents continue to occur in college athletics. Details continue to emerge, but we can all recognize the importance of vetting outside consultants and having qualified professionals with the appropriate education and credentials oversee workouts. https://lnkd.in/egbthwu6

Interested in the potential futures of the mess that is high-level college sports right now? This is a great read. The most powerful paragraph is at the very end, which is the hopefully the most motivating - and most concerning - to the powers that be in college athletics.

Today another one of my feature articles came out for Center Field. This one is on men's basketball transfer Isaiah Sulack. Sulack is from the University of Tennessee and spoke to me about his story and his journey leading to Marist. Check out the article with the link below. https://lnkd.in/en_SpqgP
