And we're heading to the 40th #listbuilding tip in no time. 😅 For the time being, let's discuss the 32nd. This one might seem like a curveball, but hear me out. Most of us care for one another. At least, I truly hope so. 😅 It's not uncommon to see famous people (actors, singers, influencers, etc.) give their exposure to good causes. It's a great way to highlight causes and institutions that need our attention and support to keep doing their purpose. A natural aftermath of this process is that it compounds into their personal branding, but almost nobody talks about it. This is also why so many company brands support many institutions. Yes, we're all trying to contribute to a better world. But it also adds to their brand building. It's not something we should be ashamed of. We're still doing a good thing. But what does this have to do with a list-building tactic? Well, see the example of Patagonia. They support and fund many organisations and work that reflect their values. It brings people with the same interests who sign up to know more about these initiatives. Target is also a brand that donates hundreds of millions to non-profits. People can also subscribe to their newsletter to support this initiative and get updates. Nordstrom is another one that does a similar thing. The list goes on and on... Fortunately! So, the 32nd list-building tip is not to be shy about what you do to support your brand's values and causes while making it easy for people to subscribe and get updates on what you're accomplishing by doing it. Crazy part is, they didn't change their product... they decided to THINK DIFFERENTLY. Stanley's sales and marketing teams successfully broadened their demographic and focused on incorporating social media. They reached out beyond their traditional blue-collar male consumer base and added 10+ new vibrant and whimsical colors to their Quencher cup inventory without damaging the product's top-tier quality consumers have trusted for so many years. If Topicals is nothing else, she's a "girl's girl." The brand did it again, and this time, championed other Black-Owned beauty brands along the way. I've seen a lot of posts praising Topicals for their marketing campaigns, specifically their influencer brand trip to Ghana in December 2023 where they were SPOTTED in the Faded Under Eye Masks and Slick Salve everywhere they went. The influencer trip resonated with audiences globally who would have loved to be a part of Detty December with the brand. The positive response and social traction from the campaign, in my opinion, led to Slick Salve being sold out for a couple of weeks EVERYWHERE. However, Topicals made this moment less about them and more about other Black-Owned brands. In an IG post, the brand cleverly states "Slick Salve may be out of stock, but that doesn’t mean your lips are out of luck. Check out these Black-owned brands with lip balms we’d pay resell price for." Now that's how you put others on!
