[NEWS AHEAD 📣] We are proud to be selected for the #FRANCE2030 in-orbit inspection and docking service project 🛰️ The 𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, which stands for Démonstration d'Inspection et Amarrage Novatrice Embarquée, is led by Thales Alenia Space, in association with Magellium Artal Group, and represents a major step towards a more eco-responsible and sustainable space. ➡️ It aims to demonstrate to demonstrate rendezvous, proximity inspection and docking operations with a non-collaborative satellite in low-Earth orbit. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁? In response to the proliferation of satellites in low-Earth orbit which dramatically increases the risk of major incidents like the recent explosion of a decommissioned satellite, DIANE is part of a responsible space management approach. Mastering the techniques for capturing and de-orbiting non-collaborative satellites will help to reduce the risk of collisions and limit the generation of space debris. This initiative also strengthens Europe's autonomy in terms of in-orbit services and opens the way for future satellite maintenance and life extension missions. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲? Delivering image processing for accurate vision-based localisation and proximity inspection. The DIANE consortium also includes Germany's DLR Institute of Structures and Design and Telespazio. The mission uses the resources already in orbit with the EROSS SC component, funded by the European Union. Many thanks to CNES and the Direction Générale des Entreprises for their trust in this major project! And thanks to Thales Alenia Space for letting us come on board 🙌 Let's go 💪🛰️ Find out more about our blog article related to the DIANE project : https://bit.ly/4d6KhIp #France2030 #NewSpace #Sustainability #Innovation #SpaceTech #SpaceDebris #OnOrbitServicing #EROSS #SpaceDebris #Sustainable #Responsible
