🤝Collaboration with international students🤝   We're excited to embark on this journey of partnership with students and educational institutions. Intercable Automotive Solutions collaborated with three students from Berufskolleg Tecklenburger Land (Germany). David, Joshua and Simon worked on a project together with the Advanced Quality Engineering (AQE) department - within the Laboratory they designed and created a Slow-Motion-Bending Machine for lifetime testing of cables lug connections. Dear (automotive) network, On a personal note I am currently in search for an internship for Daniel Bendotti. Something within vehicle design and-/or manufacturing space. 🚘 Throughout the University of FH Aachen, it should be an Automotive Research Project for a duration of 24 weeks in an industrial enterprise. The internship can be executed anywhere in the Netherlands. Additionally the research project can be extended with another 24 weeks or thesis research. The internship must contain engineering activities within the range of system integration in an enterprise of vehicle technology. The topic of the research semester has to be documented in a report with a final presentation. 🎓 Quality Engineering: Bridging Theory and Corporate Innovation at Politecnico di Torino 🚀 Thursday 18 January 2024 marked an exciting moment in the course of Quality Engineering within the Master's degree in Engineering & Management at Politecnico di Torino. On the occasion of the last lesson before the final exams, my colleague Prof. Luca Mastrogiacomo and I had the honour of hosting a distinguished team from FPT Industrial, part of the IVECO Group. In this meeting, all four members of the FPT Industrial staff – Massimiliano Gargiulo, Vincenzo Scoleri, and our former students Giulia Ricci and Aamir Hasany – passionately shared their innovative project. It was a vivid demonstration of how the specific skills acquired in academia are applied and valued in the business world. The active participation of Giulia and Aamir, now members of the FPT Industrial team after a productive internship, underscores the practical value and impact of the training we offer. This meeting represented a perfect synergy between theory and practice, and between academia and the industrial sector. Closing the semester with such an event not only enriched our students' learning but also provided tangible inspiration for their professional future. I am happy to share that I have started working at FIR an der RWTH Aachen as part of the Thesis Internship Program at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. In this role, I am working on my Master's thesis and participating in consulting projects in the field of Service Management – Digital Products. Guided by my university mentor, Professor Rudolf Müller, and my internship supervisor, Lennardt Söhngen, I am researching sales incentive systems in the machinery and plant engineering sector.  My study aims to develop an innovative adaptation of existing sales incentive systems to the industry transition from selling purely physical products to a hybrid model that includes both physical and digital offerings. This research is conducted in close cooperation with industry experts and builds on the latest findings in sales incentive structures, particularly from the software sales industry. 🎉 Proud to Announce: Best Intern Award at Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions ! 🎉 Project - Enhancing Efficiency and Productivity Using Lean Manufacturing and Work Study Techniques Project Highlights: During my internship, I developed a comprehensive project scope and identified high-impact areas for value addition within a two-month timeframe. Change management was crucial, as was pinpointing significant areas for productivity improvement.Workplace layout was modified to reduce space utilisation and production time, established a true line operation, and ensured the sustainability of operational changes. Several key initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity: - Managed 30 laborers across two assembly lines, optimizing workflow and resource allocation. - Deployed a cloud platform of video library of best practices for worker training. - Generated 5 product design improvement suggestions - Streamlined assembly line by reducing stations from 10 to 8. - Reduced the space required for the assembly line by 50%. Throughout the project, I used Value Stream Mapping, applied the Theory of Constraints, and conducted Method Study. Used FlexSim simulation to extrapolate trial results. *Achievements:* Successfully realized a 90% improvement in production! 💪 Suggestion for MBA Grads: Stay vigilant and manage externalities effectively to achieve your goals. Perfect Mix and Match at MAHLE During Easter break, we welcomed 8 young female minds to our Stuttgart headquarters to explore the wonderful world of technology in a series of hands-on experiences designed to spark curiosity. Our gate into the world of tech was the start-up MAHLE chargeBIG, pioneering innovative and affordable charging infrastructure. Here, the girls enjoyed practical learning, soldering and wiring, gaining first insights into the megatrend electrification. How to design, produce, and analyze different metals were the key takeaways in our metallography laboratory. Participants sawed and examined metal sections under the microscope, getting a first glimpse of materials that make up the technologies of tomorrow. The BME Formula Racing Team is launching a new post series, which aims to demonstrate how participation in the team can help in professional development and employment. The team offers an exceptional opportunity to deepen knowledge and practice in the design and construction of racing cars in a real engineering environment that university students cannot necessarily experience in education. They also face not only engineering, but also economic and managerial challenges, which also improve the communication, problem-solving and autonomy of team members. This way, even their first job placement will be much smoother, as they see the situations through an engineering and economic perspective, and companies will have a much simpler job with them while having the opportunity to support the employees of the future. In the post series, the team members reveal their personal stories, demonstrating how they have acquired skills in engineering production, design, problem solving, networking and racing, as well as how their careers have progressed. The knowledge and skills gained here can not only strengthen future career opportunities, but also help build relationships in professional circles. In addition, the community and the experiences it provides lead to personal development.
