From Pain to Progress: Terry's ReActiv8 Journey Army veteran Terry faced years of debilitating back pain after a parachute jump injury. Despite numerous treatments—physical therapy, various injections, and a spinal cord stimulator—lasting relief seemed out of reach. After seven months with ReActiv8, Terry shares, "This procedure was worth it for me!" He's seen a significant reduction in pain, and despite some challenging days, his progress has restored a quality of life he thought was lost. His loyal service dog, Bella, has been a constant source of support throughout his journey. Is ReActiv8 right or you? New updates could be coming to the Agent Orange Presumptive List. ⬇️ On February 12th, the VA published a proposal in the Federal Register to expand the Herbicide (Agent Orange) Presumptive List. The Presumptive Lists have been adjusted occasionally over time as the VA’s understanding of the correlation between military service and the development of medical conditions in the veteran population has improved. Paws of War recently hosted a reunion event for three soldiers who, for the first time since their deployment, were reunited with the dogs they cared for and rescued while serving overseas in Eastern Europe. The three soldiers traveled to Nesconset, NY from Colorado and Rhode Island to officially adopt these beloved animal friends. Paws of War is also raising awareness about the cost of Paws of War’s mission and effort to return 18 more dogs from the same overseas region. As part of its War-Torn Pups and Cats program, Paws of War recently rescued Ace, Shadow, Runtie and Racha from a military base in Eastern Europe, where they then safely travelled to the organization’s HQ in Nesconset. The four pups were struggling to survive without food and water before they were rescued by the three soldiers. Paws of War is currently on a mission to bring 18 more dogs home safely to the U.S. These four dogs are just a few of the more than 60 rescues of dogs and cats that Paws of War currently has underway around the world. These rescue missions cost thousands of dollars per animal. All expenses are covered by Paws of War. https://lnkd.in/eXZDCGUc #Veterans #ptsdawareness #ptsdrecovery #ptsd #veterans #servicedog #dog #warrior

What’s my WHY⁉️ In 2018 I volunteered at a Veterans homeless Stand Down, and ran into a person I was stationed with 12 years earlier…unfortunately they were enrolled in HUDVASH and weren’t one of the other volunteers.
When separating (after 4 or 40 years) from the military, one of the common things I often talk to clients about, is identifying access to Veteran facilities. 1. Federal (including in - network) ✅ Hospitals ✅ Urgent Care ✅ Emergency ✅ Community ✅ Vet Centers ✅ “Benefits” ✅ Cemeteries 2. State ✅ A variety of the above Some want it. Others don’t. Some need them. Others won’t. In the comments, there’s two link to help identify all your needs. You better call Tyrone

If you work with ground forces personnel, investing in developing as a run and ruck program specialist is crucial. MSK low limb injuries, with a significant majority occurring in garrison, have led to more 3B medical releases in the Canadian Armed Forces than any other single category over the last decade (Manser, Lynda. 2015). To fulfill our mission of injury prevention, we must prioritize providing programs for these high-risk activities over sticking to what is familiar or driven by personal bias. #injuryprevention #running #rucking #army #msk #strengthandconditioning

A further statement from Clare Macnaughton, widow of Squadron Leader Kai Macnaughton, helicopter pilot, who passed away from a rare blood vessel cancer three weeks after diagnosis in March 2023, age 53. Please get in touch if you have any information. “Thank you for all your support on my tragic; but vindicating news about Kaiser Mac’s death being service related. However, it will not instigate a change of policy. The word on the tarmac is that no changes will be made and claims, if justified, will be settled. Service personnel will continue to be exposed. In order to instigate change we literally need an army of service personnel with cancer - actually 1000s. The current numbers are simply not significant enough for the MoD to act. It’s still cheaper to pay rather than prevent. We need to gather information on those that have already died and encourage their families to claim. We need those with cancer already to come forward and make a claim. We need those that may have been at risk to have annual health checks to catch their cancers as early as possible. Without greater outrage and greater numbers of people coming forward nothing will change. It’s cheaper to pay than prevent!!” #cancer #ethics #ethical #betrayal #armedforces #military #chemical #toxic #fumes #helicopter

While DCD Dogs have many talents, and we're very cute, apparently having big ears doesn't make us bunnies 🐰 But, did you know rabbits symbolise sensitivity, gentleness, new beginnings and good luck? Well, so do we! 🐾 Receiving a Defence Community Dog is life-changing. It gives a Veteran suffering PTSD an opportunity to change their life and make a fresh start. A 2018 study found that “compared with usual care alone, military members and Veterans with trained Assistance Dogs show lower PTSD symptomology, reduced depression and increased social participation.” "It’s changed my life. It’s brought me back to the person I used to be. This program is just absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t be here today without it. "Lola was one day off being euthanased, and now she has saved my life." Mick, ADF Veteran and his DCD Dog, Lola Defence Community Dogs. Improving the lives of Veterans. Founder of VNCC - Empowering vets through the VA claims process with strategies for maximized benefits. Personalized, step-by-step support to make the system work for you.
Let's meet our veterans where they are, even if it’s in Spanish! The challenges our veterans face are similar despite the language. Here’s a clip from a conversation with an Air Force service member being med-boarded. Beyond VA claims we discussed life and mental health which led to an outpouring of comments from fellow veterans. It's time to peel back the layers of what we're really dealing with today, post-service. Remember, it's more than just a claim. #veteranmentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawareness #veterans #vaclaims #varating #veteranos #saludmental #vaclaimtips
