Initiated by #LeedsCityCouncil, this follows the introduction of ‘#SelectiveLicensing’ in #Beeston and #Harehills in 2020, which was aimed at improving the quality of rental homes and addressing social and health disparities within these communities. The initial scheme has shown promising outcomes; however, according to the #HousingAct2004, selective licensing in #England is limited to five years. Consequently, the council is now evaluating a broader initiative that would not only revisit #Beeston and #Harehills but also extend to include areas of #Armley, #Holbeck, #Hunslet, #CrossGreen, and #EastEndPark. #Leeds is proactive in addressing the diverse housing needs of its population. Alongside new development, the city is renovating existing properties to meet modern standards of living.
