MCI's Chris O'Flynn enjoyed yesterday's crop walk at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine's (DAFM) seed trial facility in Ballyderown, Co Cork. Seed trials help to improve the agronomic performance of future barley crops. The Malting Company of Ireland welcomes this opportunity to continue our participation in developing new and improved barley varieties. Congratulations to all at the Irish Seed Trade Association and the DAFM for a great event. We are proud to work with you to help create sustainable barley on Irish soils. #agri-food

Launched today: Agrecalc will be providing carbon footprint calculations in the cutting-edge project - ‘NUE-Leg’, lead by Germinal and funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). This on-farm trial and research project is set to exploit major innovations in plant breeding, soil microbiology, nutrition and grassland management to achieve improvements in the capacities of legumes, such as white and red clovers, in combination with soil microbes, to fix nitrogen from fresh air and make this available to grasslands. We are hugely excited to be working together with a number of partners: Aberystwyth University, Origin Enterprises Plc, The James Hutton Institute, DOVECOTE PARK LTD, Pilgrim's UK, Müller UK & Ireland, LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), and the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL), as well as a number of demonstration farms. The Republic of Cyprus Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Environment has approved the emergency use of SPEAR LEP, providing Cypriot growers with a potent tool to manage these infestations effectively. Juan Estupinan, Vestaron’s CEO and president, praised the authorization, stating, “Cyprus’s decision reflects the urgent need for innovative solutions in agriculture to address evolving challenges. Vestaron is committed to providing farmers with effective, sustainable tools that safeguard both crop health and environmental well-being.” Estupinan emphasized the feedback from growers across the Mediterranean, highlighting the critical need for products like SPEAR LEP. He added, “We’re so pleased we can bring SPEAR LEP to them presently through the emergency use authorization.
