To mark #SouthAsianHeritageMonth, our colleague-led Embrace Network have organised celebrations throughout July and August. The festivities began with a panel event which was hosted by our colleagues Harina Gill, Rajmeet Bhatti, Amin Bilal, Sahem Gulati and Sereena Johal. The panel focused on this year's theme, "Free to be me", allowing the panelists the opportunity to share with the audience how this resonated with them. They also discussed topics including their upbringing, family lives, career journeys, breaking stereotypes and the balancing act of maintaining their cultural values and heritage whilst living in the UK. Other events have included: a henna workshop, a Bollywood dance class, an online quiz, a virtual cook-along for a paneer and chicken curry, movie night and a Spotify playlist curated by colleagues from all around the globe. #Diversity #Inclusion #SAHM24 #FreeToBeMe

Happy Friday!! I hope you had a splendid holiday. I truly enjoyed myself. For this daily assessment, I witnessed an inclusive example and story to share. For my holiday, I attended a neighborhood gathering. There were several things that I found to be most compelling. --- INCLUSIVE EFFORTS: The neighbor who hosted the event made a point to reach out to all his neighbors. --- INCLUSIVE RESILIENCE: Even after they didn’t attend, he went around the cul-de-sac, spoke with each of them, and still included them in the festivities. --- INCLUSIVE DETERMINATION: He was determined to be inclusive even if others didn’t receive it. Lo and behold, someone engaged who normally doesn’t. There are always opportunities for inclusion. It sometimes only takes ONE person to make a decision and be an example for others. Now, that is something to celebrate! Enjoy your holiday weekend! #joyofinclusion #inclusionexpansion #inclusionincludesyoutoo #InclusionontheSlopes #SWORDInclusionSystem #PhaseFiveDailyAssessment

This week is #WorldInterfaithHarmonyWeek, a significant moment to reflect on the importance of promoting peace and cooperation among people in our workplace and communities 🌍 Interfaith harmony celebrates the richness of our diverse traditions, learning from our differences, and reminding us that we often share universal values. As I reflected during Christmas thanks to Oliva's #event, we should always keep in mind the impact that religion has on our daily actions and traditions we follow, regardless of our actual faith. Religion has been linked to political decision-making, and still is very often, so denying its importance and impact on society and human behaviours can be detrimental. What can organizations do to create a welcoming environment?💼 ☕ Create spaces where employees can #share their experiences, passions, and personal traditions - for example, cultural speed dating. By learning more about our colleagues' different cultures and backgrounds, we can build bridges of understanding and friendship. Bringing closer realities that may seem distant. 🍲 When organizing corporate events, encourage employees to share traditional dishes and attend in their traditional attire. This not only promotes mutual respect but also creates a celebratory atmosphere while triggering curiosity. 🌐 Participate together in community-focused volunteering activities that promote equality and inclusion. Whether it's with local organizations or supporting humanitarian causes, coming together as a team can make a positive difference in our communities. We've embarked on a beautiful journey with the Fundación Adsis where we're exposed to other religious and cultural realities, even if it's not necessarily the main goal of it. 🍃 Provide physical and emotional spaces that allow #flexibility for our colleagues to practice their beliefs and celebrate their religious festivities authentically. This could include offering time off for adapted religious holidays or allowing employees to adjust their work schedules during specific times, such as Ramadan. In Accenture the Netherlands there was a praying room. By implementing these ideas into your #CompanyCulture, we're not only building a more inclusive and welcoming workplace but also creating an environment where every individual feels valued and respected for who they are, impacting #Community. What does your company do to enhance #InterfaithHarmony and #CulturalAwareness? What would you like them to do?

🌈 National Coming Out Day is a powerful reminder of the courage it takes to live authentically. Today, we celebrate the strength, bravery, and resilience of those who have come out, as well as those who may still be on their journey. Coming out is a deeply personal decision and an act of bravery. It is a step toward embracing one’s true self, but it’s not without challenges. Many face fear, discrimination, and rejection, making this journey anything but easy. That’s why it’s important to acknowledge not only the joy that comes with living authentically but also the difficulties and complexities that accompany it. Being true to yourself is one of the most responsible things you can do for your well-being. It allows you to show up fully, bringing your unique perspectives, talents, and energy to everything you do. For those of us who are allies, it’s crucial to create spaces that are safe, inclusive, and supportive. We all have a role in making it easier for others to feel accepted and valued for who they truly are. To everyone who has come out, those who are still on their journey, and those who may not be ready—your identity and your story are valid. You are seen, and you are loved. Happy National Coming Out Day! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #NationalComingOutDay #2SLGBTQIA

As Eid al-Fitr approaches, it offers us a profound opportunity to reflect on the values of diversity, inclusion, and unity that lie at the heart of this auspicious occasion. Regardless of our faith or background, Eid serves as a universal reminder of the importance of coming together in celebration, compassion, and understanding. Here are a few key lessons that Eid teaches us about fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society: Celebrating Diversity: Eid brings together people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and traditions to commemorate the end of Ramadan—a month of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth for Muslims worldwide. This celebration underscores the beauty and richness of our differences, reminding us to embrace diversity as a source of strength rather than division. Cultivating Empathy: Eid encourages us to extend empathy and compassion towards others, particularly those less fortunate. Through acts of charity, generosity, and community service, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting those in need and fostering a more equitable society. In doing so, we recognize the interconnectedness of humanity and the importance of standing in solidarity with one another. Promoting Inclusion: Eid exemplifies the spirit of inclusion by welcoming people of all backgrounds to join in the festivities. Whether through shared meals, prayers, or cultural traditions, Eid serves as a reminder that inclusivity is not only desirable but essential for building cohesive communities where everyone feels valued and respected. Fostering Unity: Perhaps most importantly, Eid encourages us to transcend boundaries of race, religion, and nationality in pursuit of a common purpose: unity. As we gather with loved ones, neighbors, and strangers alike to exchange greetings and good wishes, we reaffirm our shared humanity and reaffirm our commitment to building a more harmonious world based on mutual respect and understanding. As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, let us reflect on these timeless lessons and commit ourselves to promoting diversity, inclusion, and unity in our communities and beyond. By embracing the values exemplified by Eid, we can create a more compassionate, equitable, and interconnected world for generations to come. Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating! #EidMubarak #DiversityandInclusion #Unity #Community #Compassion #LinkedInThoughtLeadership

As we celebrate ESEA (East and Southeast Asian) Heritage Month, it's important to recognise the rich cultural diversity and contributions of ESEA communities in our workplaces. This month is an opportunity to not only celebrate but also to support our colleagues of ESEA heritage in meaningful ways. Here are five actionable steps you can take to show your support and foster a more inclusive workplace: 1. Educate Yourself and Others Understanding the history, culture, and challenges faced by ESEA communities is crucial for building an inclusive environment. Take the time to educate yourself about ESEA cultures, histories, and the unique experiences of your colleagues. Share resources such as articles, books, and documentaries with your team. Organising a discussion group focused on ESEA heritage can also be an excellent way to broaden awareness and understanding. 2. Amplify ESEA Voices Ensure that the voices of ESEA heritage colleagues are heard and valued in meetings, projects, and decision-making processes. Actively seek out their opinions and perspectives, especially on matters that affect them directly. Supporting ESEA colleagues in taking on leadership roles and being visible within the organisation can also help to amplify their voices and contributions. 3. Celebrate Cultural Traditions ESEA Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the diverse cultures within the ESEA community. Encourage and participate in cultural celebrations, whether through virtual events, sharing traditional music, art, and stories. By celebrating these traditions, you not only honour the heritage of your colleagues but also create an inclusive environment where cultural diversity is embraced. 4. Be an Ally in Addressing Bias Unfortunately, many ESEA individuals face bias and microaggressions in the workplace. As an ally, it's important to recognise these issues and actively work to address them. Speak up if you witness discriminatory behaviour, and support initiatives that aim to reduce bias and promote equity within your organisation. Allyship also involves listening to and validating the experiences of your ESEA colleagues, ensuring they feel supported and understood. 5. Support ESEA-Led Initiatives Show your support by actively participating in or promoting initiatives led by ESEA colleagues. This could include diversity and inclusion programs, community outreach projects, or professional development workshops. By supporting these efforts, you contribute to the empowerment of ESEA employees and help create a more inclusive workplace culture. Let’s commit to supporting our ESEA colleagues not just during this month, but throughout the year. #ESEAHeritageMonth #InclusiveWorkplace #CelebrateDiversity #Allyship #SupportESEA
