When you think about self-care, what comes to mind? Perhaps spa treatments, massages, vacations, etc.? You are not alone - this is a common misconception! What if we told you, it’s much more than that? It’s an important practice that allows individuals to recharge and prioritize their well-being. Specifically, self-care is any activity that cares for your body, mind, or soul. This could include doing things such as: • getting extra rest when you’re tired • eating a proper breakfast instead of skipping it as usual, or • taking 5 minutes to laugh as you watch a funny cat video What kinds of things do you like to do? Do you put them off because you feel you’re ‘wasting’ valuable time you could put to better use? The thing is, when you do things you enjoy, you’re caring for yourself, which is never wasted time! You are recharging your batteries so you can be the best possible version of yourself. Remember, self-care is not selfish or an indulgence that needs to be earned. As adults, we know that getting enough sleep, staying hydrated & eating healthy need to be in place to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but what nobody talks about is how we control & manage our emotions! No matter how we try to be matured, professional or ignore our feelings and emotions, guess what? they still exist and plays a major role on our overall well-being. it's thus crucial to set ourselves up for success by mastering and managing our emotions. Here are some areas we can work on, to get it together👇 📍Practice meditation & mindfulness: Take time each day to sit in quiet reflection, focusing on your breath and clearing your mind. This practice will help you stay present and calm in the face of challenges. 📍 Do not jump to conclusions,(I know say we no gree for anybody this year!) But learn to control your temper. Take a step back and assess situations before reacting. (I know the urge to give somebody hot hot is on the high side🤣)but just calm down. 📍Stop being fearful: Confront your fears and challenges head-on, rather than letting them hold you back. Face it, you will be surprised that its not as hard & scary as you think,comfort zone is a dangerous place to be, it can cripple ones dreams and visions! 📍Normalize journaling: Writing down your thoughts and reflections can help you process and understand your emotions. This is a real life testimony from me to you. Try journaling next time you are upset or feel stressed out and thank me later. 📍 Go for walks: My favourite thing to do, whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed or anxious about a situation I walk.
