September is Hunger Action Month. While our mission to get every worker in America fed and ultimately, end hunger is year-round, we are calling for all hands on deck this month. According to Feeding America, 1 in 8 people in the United States face hunger. That's over 44 million Americans – including 9 million children – who don't always know where their next meal will come from. That’s a sobering statistic, and it's indicative of an issue that requires consistent, collective efforts to combat. So, how can you get involved? Here are a few ways: 🤝 Volunteer at a local food bank or soup kitchen – See if your friends or coworkers want to join! 🤝 Organize a food drive in your workplace or neighborhood 🤝 Donate to organizations that combat hunger – Consider setting up a monthly contribution, or work with mission-driven companies like Sharebite. 🤝 Advocate for your representatives to develop and support policies that address food insecurity 🤝 Share information about local food resources on your social channels An individual action might feel small, but every step we take tangibly improves the lives of people in our communities who need it most. Join us in the fight against food insecurity not only this month, but all year long. Together, we can alleviate hunger across America. #HungerActionMonth #GiveBack #Community

Did you know that: -1 in 5 veterans in the United States struggles with food insecurity (Feeding America) - Veterans are 50% more likely to experience homelessness than the general population (National Coalition for Homeless Veterans) - 1 in 4 veterans in Wisconsin lives in poverty (Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs) As a nonprofit food pantry, we see firsthand the impact that poverty and food insecurity can have on individuals and families. That's why we're committed to providing nutritious groceries to those in need, including our local veterans. But we can't do it alone! Here are some ways you can help: 1️⃣ Donate food: Non-perishable items like canned goods, pasta, and peanut butter are always in high demand. 2️⃣ Volunteer your time: Help us sort and distribute food to those in need. 3️⃣ Make a financial contribution: Your support will help us purchase fresh produce and other essential items. 4️⃣ Spread the word: Share this post with your network and help raise awareness about the challenges faced by our local veterans. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country. Let's show our appreciation for their sacrifices and help ensure that they have access to the resources they need to thrive. #veterans #foodinsecurity #poverty #hunger #communitysupport"

This past Tuesday was Hunger Action Day! CEO Scott Rumpsa joined The Morning Mix on Fox 17 to share how neighbors like you can help nourish our neighbors and build a stronger, healthier communtiy. Hunger doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Families who struggle to access the food they need often face other challenges, and a setback in one area creates a ripple effect across systems: education, childcare, employment, housing, healthcare, food, finances, and transportation. Complex problems require holistic solutions - that’s why we combine healthy food access, resource navigation, financial empowerment, and street outreach to build a community where all of our neighbors have what they need to thrive, and no one faces challenges alone. It takes a community, working together, to nourish our neighbors! Act with Action House by volunteering, hosting a drive, or donating to support our work! Beyond Sustenance: Meet Organic Soul In the bustling heart of our community, a group called Organic Soul thrives. A beacon of compassion and resilience. Their journey commenced with a resolute purpose: to harness their skills and bridge the gap for those facing food poverty. They support the homeless with hot meals, clothing, and sleeping bags – more than sustenance, it’s a lifeline. But their reach extends further. During periods of hardship, families receive weekly food hampers to help when people may need to choose between heating their home and feeding their family. Refugees and asylum seekers also find solace at Organic Soul. While they may grapple with isolation and uncertainty, they receive not only nourishment but also a sense of belonging. This is why donations and acts of kindness are so important. It’s as simple as attending a comedy night or maybe purchasing a tombola ticket. But, you help to sustain a network of communities with unique backgrounds and vibrant stories.

Text MOH24 to 76278 What is this and why should you care? Today was the annual Menu of Hope fundraiser luncheon, and this is how you can donate. ...okay, what is Menu of Hope and why should you care? https://lnkd.in/guc_44Cu Menu of Hope is hosted by Children's Hunger Alliance, a statewide nonprofit; an organization that has been dedicated to a war on food insecurity in Ohio since the 1970s. Their mission is to ensure that children without access receive healthy food, nutrition education and physical activity. I don't fault you if you don't walk through life thinking about how many kids in our own backyards go day by day, unsure of where their next meal comes from. I hadn't thought of it in a long time myself; that is until I had the privilege and honor of working with Children's Hunger Alliance. Now it's one of those things that keeps me awake at night, and it's what drives me every day to do as best of a job as I can to provide them with an application solution that can scale with their ambitions. But to be clear, it's 1 in 5 kids. 1 in 5 children in Ohio don't know whether or not they are going to go to bed hungry. Children's Hunger Alliance serves thousands of Ohioan children in an effort to combat hunger annually. But as I said, they are a nonprofit, and they rely on our help, the Ohioan community, to continue this battle. So if you have a couple spare bucks to give today, you can text that number at the top of my post. I believe it's open until the end of the day. If you want to give later on, or you want to keep it in the back of your mind, bookmark this link. https://lnkd.in/gQgjAYii I have the privilege of getting a glimpse into their operations, and I know that every dollar given is a dollar that truly counts. You may not know me, and I might not know you; but many of those who are going to see this post live in Ohio; so give some thought about taking care of our kids. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

Managing Partner, Head of Candidate Success - Supply Chain Headhunter | Connecting top talent with top companies
I'll be fasting for the first few days in April to raise awareness for children's hunger. Here's what's going on: - 1 in 5 children in America face hunger, including 15% of Florida’s children - Inflation and rising food costs are severely affecting lowest-income families, forcing them to choose between buying groceries or paying for other essential items - Additionally, there is a large population of Military Veterans that are food insecure There is not enough awareness about these issues, but the reality is that in 100% of US states and counties, someone is facing hunger. I'll be fasting for 6 days (1-day fast, 2-day fast, and a 3-day fast) during the first ten days of April, coinciding with Food Waste Prevention Week. I'll also be volunteering at the local food bank - Feeding NorthEast Florida. Here's how you can help: - Donate or volunteer with a local food bank like Feeding America. Just $10 can help provide 62 meals to families in need. - Fast along with me (health permitting). Be careful and don’t push yourself too hard. The difference between a 1-day fast and a 3-day fast is actually pretty extreme. - Spread the word and become more aware - no one deserves to go hungry. #feedingflorida #hunger #awareness #fasting

As Passover approaches, Latet needs your help to send special holiday food boxes to the impoverished famillies who receive ongoing assistance from us. Did you know that 45.5% of the Israeli population is currently worried about falling into economic hardship due to the war? *from Latet's Alternative Poverty Report, 2023 The impact of this war has left many families struggling to make ends meet, facing uncertainty about their financial futures. Even as the country transitions into the 'relief phase' of war support, countless households are still grappling with the effects of the crisis, stuck in emergency mode. Donate a food box with enough food essentials (Kosher for Passover food like matzah, cookies, wine, tahini, rice, olive oil, canned food and more) and give these families one less thing to worry about. https://lnkd.in/dpTcUvti
