Under the Algae Vertical project, we are processing microalgal samples of Nannochloropsis sp. and Tisochrysis lutea from PhytoBloom - Microalgae by Necton for microbiome and contaminant identification👩🔬This work aims to optimize the industrial production of microalgae with a tailor-made microbiome and with strategies to mitigate contaminations. DNA is being prepared by Veronica Rossetto and extracted using a Maxwell automated extractor, and we have processed about 250 samples so far. 🤯 The protocol for extraction has been optimized in collaboration with our colleagues at GreenCoLab and sequencing is being performed by Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia. #marbiotech #microalgae #research #innovation #ccmar #biotechnology
