I’m not sure I can express how much I love this partnership already! 🤝🏼Yesterday, Scuderia Ferrari and Birra Peroni announced their new partnership with the funniest video I’ve seen in a while. 🍻 In it, we can see Charles and Carlos entering the Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% facility in Rome, all while following Frederic Vasseur’s instructions. 🍻Their job? Get the beer and change the label! For this important occasion, in fact, Peroni produced 2024 bottles of Tifosi Nastro Azzurro 0.0%, the union of the brands’ strong visual identities. It will be the first of a series of limited edition products and I’m really excited to see what’s next. 💡Why do I like this partnership? Peroni has been on the #F1 grid for a while but now two of the most famous Italian brands will join forces. Both of them have tradition and innovation as core values, together with innovation and style. Plus, there’s a mix of experience and strong, recognizable identities that make me think great things are coming, at least in terms of marketing! 💡Why do I like this video? Ferrari and Peroni do not need to say who they are, you just know. Is this the most original video ever? Probably not, but it’s fun to watch and it gets to the point. The brands announce their partnership but still manage to put the #tifosi at the center or, better, on the label. Product research: nailed it. But how much of Salomon's research will feed into their messaging? Here are the 3 key data points Salomon are ALREADY gathering that they should be sharing with their copywriters: ⚡ Past solutions ⚡ What other products and brands have participants used before? Did they work? What did they like/dislike about them? Getting these insights will allow Salomon to appeal to solution-aware prospects who are weighing up a pair of Thundercross trainers versus ASICS' Gel-Venture or New Balance's DynaSoft Nitrel v5s. ⚡ The role of fatigue ⚡ Salomon says they asked their testers about the role of fatigue in their experience. Asking them the short-term impact of fatigue can be utilised as email CTR-triggers, showing the immediate pay off for new prospects if they click through. And then discussing the long-term implications of fatigue can be useful for talking about the dreamstate of your prospects in the first line of your PDP copy. ⚡ The post-run interview ⚡ 2-hours into a marathon is famously the hardest part, when glycogen stores become depleted. Calves are burning. Bunions are rubbing. This is what us copywriters call the 'Moment of Highest Tension'. Asking runners to describe the hardest part of the run IMMEDIATELY after they've finished means the emotion is very fresh (and so can be easily recalled... as opposed to interviewing them 3 weeks after the race).
