$22bn dollars was invested globally in data centres during the first five months of 2024, with Europe seeing a bigger share of investments than ever. A recent report indicates that although North America led the way in 2024, accounting for 62% of data centre transaction values, Europe has advanced and taken a 29% share. Europe’s share has been rapidly increasing since 2022, demonstrating its growing importance in the global data centre market. And while 30% of European data centre investment has been invested in the UK over the last 5 years, France and Italy are now also becoming prominent data centre hotspots. These figures highlight the rapid pace of development in the sector, and indicate that the European data centre market is seeing especially impressive growth right now.
