“So why should we care?” “This sounds expensive.” “This isn’t for us.” Over the last three years advocating on Capitol Hill, we’ve had some terrible meetings. Not every meeting will be a success. We’ve left meetings and felt like we bombed it. Remember, it only takes one “yes” to start a movement. Nothing happens overnight. You may hear 1,000 “no’s” before the “yes”. Keep going. After each failed meeting, re-play the conversation and figure out where it went off track. Course correct and try again. Change is never easy. 1. Taking this EFMP survey made me more emotional than I anticipated. I think it is easy to overlook some of the issues when they aren't all put together in one place like this. Ironically, after I took this survey, I was alerted that MHS Genesis is down, so now none of the medications that are controlled can be filled. Take the survey. 2. You may be saying, but Kayla, you also have a survey out right now. Yes, yes, I do, and I still want you to take both. Organizations like the one I created and Exceptional Families of the Military are here to create real impact. The responses and stories we collect will not sit in a media kit. Our boots-on-the-ground efforts use them to highlight what is going right and wrong. The information is used to demonstrate a need and inform policy. These surveys are the way that The Operation Child Care Project and other spouse-led organizations show that what we are fighting for is relevant. 3. The Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) program is one of TRICARE's best kept secrets. Who may qualify 1)The dependent must be TRICARE-eligible with a qualifying disability or condition. 2)The service member must be active-duty or activated National Guard/Reserve 3)Other groups may also be eligible. The MAA team is advocating to uncouple the EFMP enrollment mandate to the ECHO enrollment in order to remove this extra step and streamline access to ECHO benefits. Army, Navy and Air Force, Offences Relating to – Harbouring Deserter [Section 164 of BNS/Section 136 of IPC] Spouse Difference between section 136 of IPC and section 164 of BNS is in the exception clause. While the old law specifically mentioned that the exception applies when a wife provides shelter to her husband, the new law uses the more gender-neutral term “spouse”, indicating that the exception applies when either a husband or a wife provides shelter to their spouse who is a deserter.
