I am a Senior at Mountain View High School // Interning with the "Medical Explores" throughout medical facilities across Utah county // Future nurse // Loves to take walks, and hangout with my family // Class of 2025
I read the article ”Emergency Medicine Paramedic” published by Mayo Clinic. Something I found interesting was that paramedics have a variety of responsibilities on the field. They are usually the first ones one scene with the patient. Paramedics are trained to handle many different types of situations. In reading this article I learned a couple things. First, Paramedics are able to work in a couple of different places including ambulances, helicopters, hospitals, clinics, events etc. Second, It is very one-on-one patient care. You are with that patient until you reach the hospital. This means that you are able to put your full attention into helping these patients. Lastly, you never know where you’ll end up and what you’ll end up doing. This career is a very fast paced and changing environment. You could be assisting a patient who has fallen, or you may end up doing CPR on the way to the hospital. I think that's what makes this job fun. Your environment is always changing, and you have to learn how to adapt. You get to help people in good and not so good times. You get to be that comforting voice, and a helping hand. #alpinecteinternships, #mountainlandcte, #cteinternships and Alpine School District CTE Internships https://lnkd.in/g9q4z-kK

🎈👏🎉 NURSES ARE EVIDENCE-DRIVEN. These are BSN students Madeleine, Abrar, Morgan, and Lauren who are wrapping up their third year of nursing school. Their evidence-based practice poster, "Pressure injury prevention in the ICU," earned a top spot overall at the School-wide poster session earlier this spring, and so earned a chance to attend UVA Health's Evidence-Based Project "day," which just took place May 6 and offered people across the health system a place a unit improvement ideas exchange (huge thanks to prof. Pam Baker DeGuzman, Kathryn Reid, and Meghan Mattos, who, with their teams, make this REAL). All BSN students take four semesters of R.E.A.L. across the course of their schooling, which offers Research, Ethics, Advocacy, and Leadership-infused learning. Working in small teams, they investigate a topic they've observed during clinical rotations and do a deep dive into the literature to find our more before figuring out how to present it to peers, professors, and colleagues. For some, the experience whets their appetite for more of this kind of work, which might drive them to do a summer research assistant internship, spur a Distinguished Majors project, and maybe begin to think about earning a doctoral degree. When nursing students get a sense of what research looks and feels like, and the plot points to doing an evidence-based research project, they're ready to use it in the environments where they ultimately work. The agency and know-how and POWER that understanding research processes allows truly sets UVA School of Nursing graduates apart. We are proud of their work and the voice and poise they develop as they dig in. We wish a very happy National Nurses Week to budding nurse scientists like Madeleine, Abrar, Morgan, and Lauren - and to #nusescientists everywhere who use evidence to forge real change that improves our practice and people's lives! 🧡💙🔬📑📚 #nursescientist #evidnecebasedpractice #nursingscience #uvahealth

Project Update: WOW (Evidence-Based Practice) - Enriching Internships and Innovative Care Improvements This year, our advisory board WOW (Evidence-Based Practice) has conducted an impressive project where students from our learning care centers had the opportunity to make valuable contributions to nursing practice. During their internships, students were tasked with selecting a nursing issue in their department, conducting a thorough literature review, and presenting their findings in a Journal Club. Additionally, they developed an implementation plan to bring their findings into practice. Some of the notable contributions this year were: * Emergency Department: Students investigated the importance of counting respiratory rates and found that this is often inadequately performed. *Intensive Care Unit: Students assisted in developing a CAUTI bundle (Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection) which is already in use in the ICU. These projects not only contributed to improving our care practices but also provided students with a valuable learning opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a clinical setting. The experiences and insights gained will be further developed and integrated into our care processes over the coming months and years. We would like to extend our gratitude to all involved: the members of our advisory board, the students, the internship mentors, and Thomas More-hogeschool for their dedication and collaboration. Together, we continue to strive for excellence in care through evidence-based practices.

I can't believe nothing is done even after the nurses' protest (This is totally unacceptable!) I've never wanted to add my voice to this, but the new verification rule is simply outrageous. If you're a nurse unbothered by it, let me explain what it looks like for many of us: ↳ Forced to compete for limited, expensive internship slots right after graduation ↳ Exploited by job providers who see us as desperate, not professionals ↳ Stuck in a cycle of low pay and delayed career progress ↳ Frustrated, losing hope in the profession and the government This isn't just an individual struggle - it's a systemic issue with real consequences But guess what? I don't blame you, the nurses, or even the government entirely. I blame the professional bodies who should be representing us, yet allow themselves to be silenced! What can we do? ✓ We can demand transparency and hold these bodies accountable. ✓ We can work together to find solutions that protect nurses' rights and ensure a brighter future for the profession. Join me! Consider ♻️♻️♻️ to end this struggle. #SupportNurses #FixVerificationRule

👉 We're so excited to see more momentum around apprenticeships that will benefit the development of a primary care workforce that can improve health outcomes for older adults! There is new federal funding dedicated to providing #CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistant) with meaningful opportunities for career advancement: Back in November, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS posted a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for its next cohort of Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Programs (GWEP). Stick with us here... The NOFO specifically requires that GWEPs "using the apprenticeship framework, provide education and training for direct care workers to support career advancement (ex. Certificate, etc.) within their discipline as geriatrics specialists." The requirement goes on to specifically call out "the development of career ladders for certified nursing assistants to become advanced geriatrics specialists." This is #progress in the right direction... And, exactly in alignment with our Action Plan: "Expanding Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Career Pathways". Click here to see our Pathways Action Plan: https://lnkd.in/eTXGiZTa Or, click here to access all 9 Action Plans (and videos): https://lnkd.in/eKNNgnek We look forward to working with future GWEPs to make their CNA career pathways a success, as well as to help ensure that they include commensurate increases in compensation for participating staff! #MovingForward #NursingHomeQuality #CoalitionProgress #LongTermCare #ElderCare #healthcareinnovation #healthcarecareers #apprenticeships
