Pathway one: Career and technical education While a four-year degree is important for many students — especially if their ideal job is among the 64% that do require a college degree—college may not be the best pathway or even a needed pathway for others. Career and technical education (CTE) programs are one non-college pathway to prepare students for the workforce. These programs also engage students in what they’re learning. CTE programs in high school: Show students tangible proof of their skills and what they’re learning and why Give students access to entry- and mid-level certifications that let them enter the workforce right after high school or use to skip college courses. Are more likely to graduate high school.
Marisa Littlefield and Hans Meeder recently attended the 2024 Arkansas CTE Summer Conference. They had the pleasure of chatting with Molly Lindsey, Executive Director of Arkansas ACTE. Great conversations and connections that will help us continue to support and advance CTE in Arkansas. Looking forward to future collaborations! 💫 ✏ #ArkansasCTE #CTESummerConference #CareerAndTechnicalEducation #Networking

No pun intended. It is truly an honor to work with Joel Podolny and his executive team at Honor Education. In the three months I’ve been working with them, their passion and earnestness for making a difference in learning is energizing. One outcome of this work will be a course I’m co-authoring with Joel on “Developing Thought Leadership” with 10 accomplished executive leaders who join us on each of 10 lessons to share their insight and experience on how to advance your own thought leadership. What is amazing about Honor as they launch a NEXT LEVEL learning management system is the extraordinary focus they are placing on the toughest challenge online learning faces: student and collective engagement. If you really think about it, much of how we learn in a classroom is peer to peer, wrestling with the questions and problems posed by the course. So how do we use AI and next level technology to bring the richness of collective engagement to the forefront of the learning experience? Joel will be talking about the evolution of online education and future trends on Tuesday at the ASU+GSV Summit. He is simply one of the most passionate scholars I’ve worked with in my edtech career — be sure to join him if you’re at the summit. MarketScale
Our CEO Joel Podolny will be speaking at this year's Arizona State University + GSV Ventures Summit on April 16th to discuss the evolution of online education and its future trajectory. Moderated by industry veteran Glenda Morgan, Joel will join Noodle’s Founder/CEO John Katzman and the University of Virginia’s Vice Provost for Online Education Kemi Jona to tackle the pressing questions of today: Will online higher education not only endure but thrive? Can it continue to offer diverse, accessible, and effective learning experiences for students worldwide? Session: Is The Sun Rising or Setting for Online Ed? #K12 #superintendents take a multifaceted approach to addressing anti-Semitism and other types of discrimination on their campuses. Doug Roberts, Founder and CEO of the Institute for Education Innovation, spoke with WICC radio’s Melissa in the Morning this week to give listeners a better understanding of superintendents’ role in preventing such attacks. https://lnkd.in/eYh5e-Mn The first approach #education #leaders take is prevention. “These are things we fight hard against as leaders, and we do so by building cultures in our districts where people feel included and welcomed and supported,” he says. The second is more social-emotional #SEL awareness and funding thanks to initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels. “We were able to build up stronger networks for mental health supports,” Doug says. “If a student feels that they are subject to any sort of anti-Semitic attack, we have to make sure we are checking in with kids." Third, Doug emphasized that when incidents happen, they need to be teachable moments for the children responsible. Schools can have strong policies against hatred but at the same time attempt to understand why the students acted as they did and address the root causes through education and building better understanding. In early May, the leaders of some of the largest U.S. public school districts testified before Congress about steps they are taking to address anti-Semitism, and Doug urged Congress to take action too, such as re-upping mental health funding for schools. “Superintendents who went to D.C. made a strong showing for our profession,” he says. “We literally stay up at night thinking about how we can make sure every student in our schools feels safe.” #ThoughtLeadership #Schools #Inclusion #Respect #TeachableMoments #MentalHealth #Wellbeing
We’re proud to share that our Founder and CEO, Doug Roberts, was a guest on Melissa in the Morning, WICC 600 AM and 107.3 FM, discussing "Attacking Anti-Semitism at K-12 Campuses." During the conversation, Doug addressed the problem and potential solutions, shedding light on the Institute for Education Innovation (IEI) and its efforts. IEI is a network of over 100 K-12 superintendents committed to improving student outcomes.

I'm excited to announce Seidman College of Business took home 1st place for the first time at the Schlesinger Global - Family Enterprise Case Competition (SG-FECC) in Vermont!! One of many updates to come about this past week. Throughout the week we participated in various types of family business cases from short to long cases, complicated and all within 4 hours to analyze and create a final presentation before being in front of a judges panel for the next 30 minutes. The adrenaline of working in a time constraint and competing with teams coming from 15 countries and 5 continents is something highly unique about this competition. Another aspect is that this was the largest turnout for the competition in all its 11 years. Over the course of the week, we were able to rise from 3rd place the first day, 2nd, then 1st, pushing us into the finals and allowing us to compete in the top 6 against University of California, Berkeley, Bishop's University, Toronto Metropolitan University, Rotterdam University and UP Campus Guadalajara. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eCTv7X6x I'd like to congratulate all the teams that were able to participate in this competition, as it's a rewarding experience to be a part of such a great family business atmosphere and be able to learn more through each day. #seidmancollegeofbusiness #grandvalley #1stplace #familyenterprise #familybusiness #vermont #globalcompetition #globalbusiness #globaleducation #mapledivision #schlesinger #familyenterprise #casecompetition #undergraduate #undergraduates
