🔒Operation Cronos: Further Updates on Dismantling LockBit🔒 An international law enforcement operation, ‘Cronos’, has made a significant progress on dismantling the LockBit ransomware group. 🔎This operation involved collaboration from the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice, the NCA, Europol, and police forces from 10 countries. Together, they disrupted LockBit, a group notorious for its ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) model. The social media especially on X as been awash of the harrowing incident involving the recent kidnapping of Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children. Tragically, one of the children, Nabeeha, has already lost her life, and the kidnappers are demanding a staggering 100 million naira ransom. Hence, this appalling event underscores the urgent need for the government and security agencies to rise to their duties and swiftly address the escalating crisis of kidnappings. However, I implore the government and security agencies to take immediate action by: 1. Mobilizing all available resources to secure the safe release of Alhaji Mansoor's remaining children. 2. Conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice for this heinous crime. 3. Strengthening security measures in vulnerable areas to prevent further incidents of kidnapping. 4. Cooperating with affected communities to provide support and reassurance during these trying times. It is important to note that the safety and well-being of our citizens are paramount, and it is imperative that every effort is made to ensure the swift resolution of this crisis. The government and security agencies must work collaboratively to protect our people from the terror inflicted by these criminals.

A perfect example of Internal malicious attacks refer to security breaches perpetrated by individuals within an organization, such as employees, contractors or partners. These attacks can take various forms including insider threats, sabotage, data theft, or fraud. Common motives behind internal malicious attacks include financial gain, revenge, espionage, or negligence. Preventive measures typically involve implementing strict access controls, monitoring employee activities, conductings security audits, and providing cybersecurity awareness training to staff.

ATM Thefts They Aren’t Going Away Fourteen years doesn’t seem that long ago and in the field of ATM thefts nothing seems to have changed. In Northern Ireland, at that time, we had been watching the rise of ATM crimes in Europe, as they then washed over to Great Britain before hitting us. In common with Europe and GB, the ATMs were pulled out of walls with diggers, causing damage to buildings, as well as the loss of the machine, the money it contained and the effect that had on the local community. In a task force set up by the UK government in NI, which included the police, banks and CIT companies, the issue was finally resolved with the arrest and conviction of those involved. The attached podcast, from a Northern Ireland newspaper, discusses the most recent spate of robberies and the issues surrounding them. Funnily enough they mirrored the conversations we had in that task force fourteen years ago. Although the use of cash is decreasing, it is still widely used and available from the approximately 49,000 ATMs that there are in the UK. As a ratio of the number of ATMs:theft the proportion hit is low, but if the issues on why they are being targeted aren’t successfully addressed, it is a crime that will just keep on repeating. 🕵️⚔️🚨 OPERATION CRONOS.... 🕵️⚔️🚨 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭? Operation Cronos was a global law enforcement operation that took down LockBit, one of the world’s most harmful ransomware groups! 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩? The operation, announced on February 20th, was led by the UK’s (National Crime Agency (NCA)) and the FBI. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞: Operation Cronos was the result of a task force involving Europol and law enforcement agencies in the UK, the US, and eight other countries! As well as additional support from police forces and national agencies in four other countries. 💡 This makes it one of history's most significant law enforcement operations against cybercrime. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞? Multiple arrests & a significant result of Operation Cronos was that law enforcement agencies were able to get hold of LockBit’s decryption keys. 💚 The National Crime Agency (NCA) said it had over 1000 decryption keys and would contact UK-based victims in the coming days and weeks to help them recover encrypted data. #operationcronos #cyberdefense #nca #cyberattack #marketinsights #news
