🌍✨ Earth Day Shoutout: Insituform UK Receives the Earth Champion Award 🌱🏆 It’s Earth Day, and it’s a great opportunity to look back at what we’ve achieved together with our clients to work towards a greener, sustainable logistics industry.    Last reporting year, Insituform avoided 123,000kg of CO2e by supporting renewable energy projects as well as responsibly planting of 2075 trees! We think that’s a great reason to celebrate and are delighted to present Insituform’s managing director Mark Bates with their award.    Mark says:    “Insituform UK has always been committed to an essential set of core environmental protection principles, keeping sustainability at the heart of everything we do. As we celebrate World Earth Day, we look back on our partnership with Green Leaves Logistics, one that has been going strong for a few years now.   We're always researching lower-impact manufacturing techniques and deploying them where possible, and our partnership with Green Leaves has ensured that this ethos continues when it comes to transporting our products to our customers, by removing more CO2 than each shipment emits.   We look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with Green Leaves for years to come, and seeing how they continue to develop and innovate their practices for maximum effect.”   We can’t wait to see what we can achieve in 2024.    Read more about the details of Insituform’s commitment to sustainability in our case study: https://lnkd.in/eCB7BNDY

Have you already read our sustainability report? It provides a good overview of what we have achieved so far in the area of sustainability and our goals for the coming years. Would you like a few examples? 💚 By using renewables and making energy efficiencies, Wilkhahn halved the carbon footprint at our German headquarters from 4,000 to below 1,000 tons per year. 💚 Since 2012, climate-neutral district heating generated from biogas has ensured that year for year, 300,000 liters of heating oil were saved. 💚 Energy-efficiency measures reduced electricity consumption by 19%. 💚 Since 2018, 6,000 units of returnable packaging have replaced lots of disposable packaging from suppliers. 💚 The raw materials left over from production at the Wilkhahn headquarters are valuable resources. Over 95% are recycled. 💚 About half of the site consists of green spaces and stretches of water. The fire-extinguishing pool was created based on ecological criteria and invaluable biotopes have emerged around it and the Eimbeckhausen stream that runs through the campus. But of course we are not going to stop there. By 2025, Wilkhahn has set itself the goal of making our headquarters at least 80 percent climate-neutral. #Congratulations to Cetogenix and UsedFULLY® who are among the six NZ nominees for the 2024 Earthshot Prize. Scions works closely with the nominees. 📌 Cetogenix diverts global organic waste into high-value products that mitigate climate change, defossilise global supply chains, and eliminate the risk of environmental pollution. We have a memorandum of understanding and together secured a grant from the Bioresource Processing Alliance (BPA) to scale up the Cetogenix technology. 📌 UsedFULLY creates high-value, high-performing products for the roading, construction, and other industries, made from unwanted textiles. We have worked together since 2017. They have been nominated by Victoria University of Wellington, the only official Earthshot Prize nominator based in New Zealand. This awards #innovative sustainability projects that highlight human ingenuity, drive change, and inspire collective action. The winners will be named at an awards ceremony in South Africa in November. And how do we plan to contribute? - eww Gruppe is setting itself targets in the area of regional consumption of sustainable energy sources for district heating. - The mayor of Stadt Wels presented the topics of extending cycle paths, more green space for Wels and the photovoltaic offensive. - Fritz Holter GmbH is striving to increase energy efficiency and is also focusing on sustainability reporting in accordance with the ESRS standard. And for us? - TEUFELBERGER Group everything currently revolves around the circular economy and the recovery of our strapping.
