Business Development Manager @ Powerplus Group | New Business Development (Construction Mechanical & Electrical) 07394535588
This isn't the circus - and operations managers are not clowns. So what's with all the juggling, acrobatics and plate-spinning? Enlisting the help of a team who can drastically reduce your workload and significantly improve your operational performance is much more impressive, in our opinion. Unless clowning around is your favourite hobby, of course. In which case, as you were. #operations #upgrade #fullservice
Before the Buckingham Palace caution us with a royal cease and desist, we just want to clarify: This story is *loosely* based on what we imagine is a true story about some poor soul who wasn't aware teams like ours exist. AND the 'Camella' we're referring to has no affiliation with the Queen consort. #overworked #upgrade #systemupgrade #fullserviceteam

Following a single monumental event, the job titles of approximately 1,900 people unilaterally changed. On 8 September 2023, immediately upon the end of Queen Elizabeth’s long rein, the barristers and solicitor advocates that were previously known as “Queen’s Counsel” became “King’s Counsel” . For the first time since 1952! This weeks #AtoZ #TopTipTuesday is K for #KingsCounsel So, what does “King’s Counsel” mean? It is more than a title. It is a prestigious status bestowed upon eligible #barristers and #solicitoradvocates because they have established that they: - Have significant experience; - Demonstrate “excellence in advocacy”; - Are leaders in their field; and - Have experience dealing with complex cases. It is a title seeped in historical significance. The first was in 1597 when Queen Elizabeth I appointed Sir Francis Bacon to be the very first Queen’s Counsel. So, in what circumstances would you instruct them? • Your solicitor might suggest instructing King’s Counsel if your case is of significant complexity, value, speciality or public importance (for example). • Or, perhaps after reading this, you might raise it with your solicitor and discuss it with them first. Either way, they are considered the crème de la crème of legal representation in court. If you want someone in the top of their field on your side, consider instructing King’s Counsel. —————— Wait - don’t just take my word for it! My #toptiptuesday updates are not a substitute for bespoke legal advice. If a post gets you thinking, great! Like it, share it and, before you act on it, contact me or another solicitor to discuss.

Martin Sutherland A very good example Martin. Effective Succession Planning should not be Rocket Science. Succession planning is crucial, but in my opinion only a minority of companies excel at it. While 86% of leaders acknowledge the importance of succession planning, merely 34% of organizations have a formal process in place. Among these, only 34% reported that their process is effective, although this marks an improvement from 14% in 2010 (source: Association for Talent Development) I think one of the main reasons it’s not seen to be done well is that the process of discussing successor readiness is so unstructured and subjective. Implementing a structured approach and fostering evidence-based conversations could significantly enhance the effectiveness of the succession planning process.

What would you call #LivingInHarmonyWithNature? Here is the answer. If you look closely, the fore part of the photo has community gardens. The middle and background parts are covering Queen Elizabeth National Park. I will draw your attention to the line of white boxes. Yap, these are actually bee hives covering a stretch of more than 4 kilometers, In our subsequent posts, you will understand how they got here, who placed them there? why and so what?. You can as well share your story on what you call living in harmony with nature.

This is why the decision for disposal of records is always linked to a value decision and the word retention. In every era, there are records that should be retained because of their enduring value. This 1859 document represents evidence of the proclamation of the Colony of Queensland and the separating of this region from the Colony of New South Wales. In 1901, near the end of the reign and the eventual death of Queen Victoria, Queensland would cease to be a colony of Britain and along with other former colonies become a State of the Commonwealth of Australia. At the very minimum, in terms of cultural heritage - popular culture, this 1859 document foretells the origin of the State of Origin - the ongoing rivalry between New South Wales and Queensland.
Yesterday marked Proclamation Day – a day when the signing of the Letters Patent by Queen Victoria marked our official separation from New South Wales, paving the way for independent governance. The decision to separate Queensland and create a distinct colony was driven by factors such as the increasing population and economic growth in the region. Sir George Ferguson Bowen was appointed as the first Governor of Queensland. He played a crucial role in the early administration of the new colony. Today, we celebrate the historical significance of this moment and our continued growth as a vibrant state. Check out the proclamation here: https://lnkd.in/erWiZEVd

This was a fun post with a serious message, "use the wrong words, you get the wrong answers." Ready now, Ready later is a terrible way of doing succession planning, yet it's the norm. Imagine asking a CFO how much money the company made and getting the answer "A lot". Imprecise language is confusing, ambiguous and, quite frankly lazy. There is a better way to do succession readiness assessments, I hope the information in the post helps.

🌍 On a quest to help managers manage effectively. With over a decade of experience across 21 African Countries - I specialize in nurturing the vital human element, which forms the heartbeat of every company.
Over the last 20 years of working across Africa to help companies find and hire executive talent, I have found that there are only a small fraction that utilizes data to build a leadership pipeline - often landing up with no leadership pipeline at all, as they are looking at the wrong things. Data is your roadmap. Use it!
