The Patients Association has championed patient participation groups (PPGs) for quite some time. Because we're committed to a health and care system where services are designed and delivered through equal partnership with patients, PPGs offer an excellent way for general practice to partner with its patients. We have a toolkit -- free to download from our website -- that has a step-by-step guide on set up and run a PPG. If you're a PPG chair looking for tips and hints, an ICB wanting to support PPGs, or a PCN, take a look at the toolkit. We hope you find it useful.👇 https://lnkd.in/eY_9DT3t #PatientPartnership #PatientParticipation

I had the honor of presenting our findings, on behalf of Sophie Poelman and colleagues, at the EAPC. We discussed how specialist-provided end-of-life scenarios might be crucial for initiating Advanced Care Planning (ACP) in primary care. It was encouraging to see a lovely discussion emerge, highlighting the potential impact of our research. This dialogue complements the ongoing research of Annemiek van Eden, raising key questions: - What exactly do these scenarios entail? Do they address non-medical issues as well? - How should these scenarios be documented? Are smartphrases utilized effectively, and are they sufficiently personalized for each patient? Is it ethical to include these in letters to GPs, knowing that patients might read them? Looking forward to further exploring these important questions and advancing our understanding in this vital area of healthcare.

Shared decision-making is at the heart of delivering the highest quality care. It’s not just about applying the best evidence 📊 or leveraging clinical expertise 🩺—it’s also about truly understanding and honoring our patients' preferences and values 💬. But sometimes, due to circumstances, patients might struggle to align with what they truly want or need. That’s why it’s our responsibility to listen deeply, ask the right questions, and provide support that helps them achieve the best possible outcomes. 🙌 By combining evidence, clinical expertise, and empathy, we can make sure our care is truly patient-centered. #SharedDecisionMaking #EvidenceBasedPractice #PatientCenteredCare #ListeningToPatients #HealthcareTransformation #CreatingAVision #AskQuestions
