Supporting your local food bank by donating food and other essentials. This winter more people than ever are being driven to food banks and the sharp increase in people needing help is outstripping food donations. Donations are vital to ensure food banks can continue to help everyone referred to them. How to donate food 1. Donate directly to your local food bank. 2. Drop off at collection points in supermarkets across the country. 3. Make a financial donation to your local food bank on their website, so they can buy what they need. 4. Add items to your online supermarket shop (where available) to send directly to the food bank. 5. Host a collection for your local food bank at your school, church or business. Or by hosting a food drive. Items to donate It’s best to check on your local food bank’s website or social media to see which items they need most. In general, the following items are often needed (non-food essentials are also accepted): Food UHT milk Tinned meat (hotdogs, meatballs etc.) Tinned fish Tinned fruit Sponge/rice puddings Coffee (small jars) Long-life juice Pasta sauce Tinned veg (potatoes, carrots, green beans, tomatoes) Tinned meals (spaghetti, chicken or veg curries, chilli) Tinned soup Jam and spreads Non-food items Shower gel Shampoo/conditioner Deodorant Toilet rolls Washing up liquid Laundry detergent pods Sanitary products For more information contact The Trussell Trust or visit their website: https://lnkd.in/eBJeXHHi #donations #hunger #community #foodbanks

No Credit Union Left Behind | Passionate Advocate for Financial Empowerment | Data and Research Geek | CU Lover for Life | Purpose Chaser | Changemaker
The US is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, yet the wealth inequity gap continues to widen, the middle class seems to be disappearing, the cost of living expense increases is outpacing rise in wages, and, and, and... the list goes on. All of these "ands" are creating multiple levels of insecurity-- food insecurity, housing insecurity, education insecurity, wage insecurity. I know several of my friends Christopher Morris, CUDE, CCUFC and Mark Volz, CUDE, CCM who continue to give of their resources and time at these food pantries in Madison. What if each of us were for 30 days to give up "something" that we enjoy (i.e. Starbucks, eating out weekly) and instead donate either that money or goods in kind to our local food pantries? And then once you have figured out that you can probably do without one or two things of small cost in your life, continue to donate that money! Or even maybe go a day without eating anything and provide the money equivalent of meals for that one day to food banks and pantries...and oh by the way it might give you a small "taste" of what it is like not to have food to eat and how that impacts you not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Use the link below to see what the food insecurity looks like in your community. https://lnkd.in/e6HVa2GP FYI, In my small rural county in White County Tennessee, 16.3% of the population are food insecure- 4,480 people. #foodinsecurity #creditunions
It's been one week since a coalition of 36 Dane County food pantries released a letter to the community and held a press conference at the Capitol. We came together to sound an alarm about the rising number of people facing food insecurity and the need for both immediate support and longer-term solutions to the challenges of distributing enough food to meet the growing need. You can get involved in building a community where our neighbors don't have to experience hunger. Transformative CEO at Zina's Salads Inc. | Innovator in Artisanal Food Production | Passionate Advocate for Quality and Sustainability | Believer in the Unifying Power of Food
Alex C and I come from similar worlds apart—the post-Soviet terrains of Russia and the now war-torn Donetsk region of Ukraine. Our childhoods were overshadowed by the pangs of food scarcity, a memory that now fuels our purpose at Zina's. I remember the lengths to which my parents went to provide for me amid widespread need. Their resilience inspired my vow when I joined Zina's over ten years ago, and ever since, we have chosen to annually contribute to the cause of helping end food insecurity. We have kept that promise, contributing annually. Now, as 2024 approaches, we're ready to broaden our impact and invite organizations aligned with our vision to join us. Our past is not just a story; it's our call to action. If your mission resonates with ours, or if you know a group that shares our passion for change, let's connect. Together, let's ensure our next steps leave a lasting footprint in the fight against hunger. #EndHungerNow #TogetherAgainstHunger
At Zina's, fighting food insecurity is personal. Many of our team members have witnessed its impact firsthand. In 2023, Zina's Fine Foods had the privilege of contributing to Table to Table remarkable effort to combat food insecurity. Our donation of 8,000 pounds of prepared foods and ingredients was part of a larger movement that provided meals to over 500,000 individuals. As we plan for an even greater impact next year, we invite your ideas and suggestions for future donations. #ZinasFineFoods #ZinasSalads #Zinas #ZinasCares #EndHunger #FoodDonation #MakeADifference #HelpingHands

For years we have been advocating that Foreign Currency Fundraising works. All it takes is a single coin to help your neighbours! As mentioned by CanadaHelps and Food Banks Mississauga, a donation of a single dollar can provide a meal. That means that a single coin from so many different countries would provide one meal (or more): €1.00 or €2.00 (EUR - Euro) £1.00 or £2.00 (GBP - British Pound) 1.00fr or 2.00fr or 5.00fr (CHF - Swiss Franc) $10.00 (HKD - Hong Kong Dollar) $2.00 (AUD - Australian Dollar) ¥500 (Yen - Japanese Yen) $1.00 (USD - United States Dollar) $2.00 (NZD - New Zealand Dollar) The next time you are looking for a way to help but aren't sure how, consider your leftover foreign currency / holiday travel money. Put together an employee drive at work, tell your friends and family and put together a larger collection, or host a party and ask everyone to bring their leftover foreign cash; talk about the great times you had where the money came from. You can't use it to buy groceries for yourself, but you could use it to ensure your neighbours / friends / family don't go hungry. “At Food Banks Mississauga, when you donate a single dollar, your donation can provide a single meal and that really multiplies your impact.” Thank you, Nicole Danesi from CanadaHelps for sharing the need for monetary donations to food banks like ours as we continue to see more neighbours in need of food support. Nicole's right - your dollars allows us to provide MORE food that includes culturally-appropriate and fresh food. While commendable in its intent, the collaborative initiative between Nestlé UK & Ireland and Arla Foods UK to donate breakfast provisions to FareShare UK warrants critical examination from various academic perspectives. Firstly, the framing of the initiative as a philanthropic endeavor by the companies involved may obscure underlying motivations, such as enhancing brand reputation or garnering positive publicity. This raises questions about the authenticity and long-term sustainability of the partnership beyond its immediate impact. Furthermore, the focus on providing breakfasts to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals highlights broader systemic issues of food insecurity and poverty in the UK. While such charitable efforts provide short-term relief, they do not address the root causes of food poverty or contribute to structural solutions that address income inequality and access to affordable, nutritious food. The reliance on corporate donations to address societal challenges like hunger also raises concerns about the role of businesses in social welfare provision. Critics may argue that such initiatives can serve to absolve governments of their responsibility to address systemic issues through policy interventions and public investment in social services. Moreover, the absence of transparency regarding the specific terms and conditions of the partnership, including the duration and scope of the donation, limits the ability to assess its effectiveness and accountability. Academic scrutiny should extend to evaluating the impact of such initiatives on the communities they purport to serve, including considerations of cultural sensitivity, dignity, and empowerment. In conclusion, while collaborative efforts between corporations and charitable organizations to address food insecurity are laudable, critical analysis is necessary to interrogate the underlying dynamics, motivations, and implications of such initiatives within broader socio-economic contexts. It is essential to move beyond surface-level narratives of corporate social responsibility to engage in deeper discussions about systemic change and equitable solutions to food poverty.
We’ve joined forces with Arla Foods UK to donate the equivalent of 1.25 million breakfasts to FareShare UK. We’re providing Shreddies and Arla is providing Cravendale milk to help build breakfasts for organisations supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK. This donation has been made possible by the team at our factory in Staverton who have come together to produce the additional stock which will make a difference to thousands of families across the UK. Andrew Shaw, Supply Chain Director at Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: "We know just how important the first of meal of the day is, but in the current climate more and more people are starting the day with an empty stomach. That’s why we wanted to work with Arla and FareShare to provide breakfast to those who need it most. I’m really proud of the invaluable work that my colleagues have put in to make this donation a reality." To date, our long standing partnership with FareShare has seen us provide the equivalent of more than six million meals. Find out more ➡️ http://spr.ly/6043jaLmV

As the owner of an event venue, I’ve witnessed the joy that good food brings to gatherings. However, it’s essential to remember that behind every plate is a story and resources that should never go to waste. Here’s what one can do: 1. Plan menus based on accurate guest counts. 2. Serve smaller portion sizes. 3. Donate excess food to local charities. 4. Use creative food displays. 5. Educate staff on portion control. 6. Offer take-home options for guests. 7. Incorporate seasonal ingredients. 8. Use buffet-style service. 9. Encourage guests to share plates. 10. Track food waste for future improvements. #WorldFoodDay #HappyWorldFoodDay #EventManagement #Founder #FounderInsights
