📝New research in Nature Portfolio suggests that trees are even better at sequestering atmospheric greenhouse gasses than we previously thought! Here’s how 👉 Scientists discovered that in addition to trees sequestering carbon dioxide via photosynthesis, microbes in tree bark absorb atmospheric methane. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, responsible for 30% of global warming since the pre-industrial era. These findings underscore the importance of investing in nature-based solutions to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. Whatever the stance on climate change, it is inaccurate because the cause and effect are hugely miscalculated due to the missing piece of Earth's critical slow-moving tendency towards the sun. All the planets in our solar system are slowly moving towards the sun, and science must include the most crucial factor that significantly influences the accuracy of reading the climate on Earth.

Rebuttals to often heard climate myths are the backbone of Skeptical Science and we have more than 220 of them readily available at https://lnkd.in/e-QREZ63 Many of the rebuttals hadn't been updated in quite a while, so we set up a project to change that. Since we opened our "rebuttals update factory" in mid-February 2023, we have updated 50 of our basic level rebuttals each of which now features an "At a glance" summary section at the top followed by more in-depth further details. We highlight one updated rebuttal each week on Tuesday, always asking for feedback about the updated versions. The first one to leave the factory was "Ice age predicted in the 1970s" (https://sks.to/1970s) and the 50th offering explains "The runaway greenhouse effect on Venus" (https://sks.to/venus). In between we tackled "The 97% consensus on global warming" (https://sks.to/consensus), "The human fingerprint in global warming" (https://sks.to/agw), "Do volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans?" (https://sks.to/volcano), "Is the CO2 effect saturated?" (https://sks.to/saturate) - to name just a few randomly. The full list of the 50 rebuttals updated thus far is available at the bottom of the blog post: https://lnkd.in/eJ4m8CAY

🏜️ Climate change has already started to alter how humans keep time!! According to this analysis, global warming 🏜️ will push back the need for another leap second from 2026 to 2029. ⌚️Leap seconds cause so much havoc for computing that scientists have voted to get rid of them, but not until 2035. Researchers are especially dreading the next leap second, because, for the first time, it is likely to be a negative, skipped second, rather than an extra one added in. #globalwarming #climatechange #climateaction #climatescience #sustainability

We're bending the curve but we must keep bending the curve! #ClimateAction, now! Faster! Stronger! #BendTheCurve to Save the Earth! Keep it up! "Cuts in greenhouse gas emissions may soon begin slowing the rate of global warming, which some researchers say has been speeding up in recent years, according to a new study. Why it matters: The research shows that a slowdown in the rate of emissions growth due to government policies, and eventual leveling off, could help arrest the rate at which the planet is warming. But scientists say it shouldn't trigger complacency. What they're saying: "Although bad actors could misinterpret these results as yet another reason to continue to delay more climate action, in fact they emphasize even more strongly the efficacy of the actions taken to date and the urgency of more," Katharine Hayhoe, a climate researcher who is chief scientist at The Nature Conservancy, told Axios. 🌱 Broad majority of global population supports climate action First globally representative survey on actual and perceived willingness to fight global warming A recent study by behavioral researchers at the University of Bonn, the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE in Frankfurt, and the University of Copenhagen demonstrates for the first time that a broad majority of the world’s population supports climate action and is willing to incur a personal cost to fight climate change. The findings, published in the prestigious journal Nature Climate Change, are based on a globally representative survey conducted in 125 countries, involving approximately 130,000 individuals. According to the study, 69 percent of the world's population is willing to contribute one percent of their personal income to the fight against climate change – a significant contribution to climate action. Climate change denial involves the refusal or unjustified scepticism that opposes the scientific consensus on the issue. Individuals who reject, dismiss, or express unfounded doubt about the scientific consensus on global warming often identify themselves as "climate change sceptics." #climatechange #climateaction #sustainability #climatechangeisreal #sustainabilitymatters To learn more, read Ayah Khan's article, available here: https://lnkd.in/dfNMjsdM

Can this be true? Yes it can. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is a biased body but it understands the importance of long-term climate trends by stating, much to the chagrin of Net Zero-promoting activists, that it can find little or no human involvement in most extreme weather events either in the past or in the likely immediate future. But these findings, along with the paper on the warming trend, are inconvenient to those promoting the unproven claim that humans control the climate thermostat by utilising hydrocarbons.
