𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙧 🌱 What does the respect for #terroir mean for Mauro Molino winery? Since the first wine produced, we dedicated all our energy in understanding our 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙣, the #land of elevation where our grape grow. With the same passion, nowadays we continue to work tying every wine to the #territory from which it comes. We therefore vinify each #plot separately to preserve its own characteristics. An extraordinary land, a mosaic of vineyards that according to the specific exposure, altitude, soil and microclimate is able to reflect a unique and intrinsic identity. 🍇 This is a pillar that guides our production style, this is the importance of our terroir. #mauromolinowinery #mauromolinowines #singlevineyard #terroir #lamorra

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗶𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 The vineyards of the Giovanni Menti's winery are rooted into the #volcanicsoils of Gambellara, a small town based close to the city of Vicenza. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 and rich in 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀, these terrains made up with tuff and basalt, are able to hold a good level of humidity while letting the roots of the vines to go deep into the soil, granting an optimal 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and a 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲; the minerals present into the soil are also absorbed by the vines roots, leading to a final wine with a strong and 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿. The volcanic soil can hold 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 and radiate it through the vineyards, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 the growing season and 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, naturally, the 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 so that they will give birth to an elegant and concentrated wine, characterized by 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 and 𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆. These precious soils mark a robust and sinuous 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆, able to make each Menti wine one-of-a-kind, extremely identifiable and pure. #uvaitaly #giovannimenti #naturalwine #biodynamicwine #volcanicwine

Volcanic Crater Wines Thrive on Lanzarote's Lunar Landscape In the sweeping, jet-black expanse of Spain’s Lanzarote Island, an unconventional approach to viticulture has birthed the unique "Volcanic Crater Wines." This innovative method utilizes the natural hollows formed in volcanic ash to cultivate vines that produce distinct and flavorful wines. The process, deeply rooted in generations of ingenuity, harnesses the harsh and seemingly infertile volcanic terrain to cultivate grapes that reflect the island's unique terroir. "Diving into the Piedirosso Wines from Vesuvius 🍇🌋 Nestled in the fertile soils surrounding Mount Vesuvius, Piedirosso wines stand as a testament to the rich viticultural heritage of the Campania region. Derived from indigenous grapes, these wines embody the unique terroir and volcanic character of their birthplace. Piedi Rossi, or "red feet" in Italian, owes its name to the red coloration of the grape stalks and undersides of the leaves, a distinctive feature of this ancient varietal. Historically, it has been a cornerstone of winemaking in the region, prized for its versatility and ability to convey the essence of the volcanic soil. Characterized by its medium body and vibrant acidity, Piedirosso wines offer a symphony of flavors that range from juicy red fruits to earthy undertones, with a subtle hint of minerality imparted by the volcanic terrain. These wines are known for their approachability in their youth, yet possess the structure and depth to age gracefully over time. As we raise our glasses to Piedirosso, let's celebrate the dedication of the winemakers who tirelessly work the land, nurturing the vines to produce wines that are as distinctive and expressive as the landscape from which they originate. #PiedirossoWines #VesuvianWine #CampaniaWineCulture #ItalianWine

"It is in the Negev that the creativity and pioneer vigor of Israel shall be tested." So said Israel's first and greatest Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion (who once worked at Carmel's Rishon Le Zion Cellars.) The first desert vineyard (for wine grapes) in modern times was the Ramat Arad vineyard planted in 1988. Carmel launched the first desert wine in 1992. The Ramat Negev Winery was founded at Kadesh Barnea in the late 1990s and Yatir Winery at Tel Arad was founded in 2000. Today there are no less than forty wineries in the Negev and Israelis are making the desert bloom with vineyards. The skills of the Nabateans and Byzantines in making wine in the desert in ancient times has been renewed in our time. Two of the best are Nana and Pinto. Nana's vineyard is situated at Mitzpe Ramon and Pinto is a start-up winery at Yeruham. We already know that white wines can be outstanding from the desert. So far Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Syrah and Petit Verdot seem to perform well in the conditions, but the jury is out and the experimentation continues. However in the days of global warming, wine professionals worldwide are interested and curious to discover the secrets of how Israel is taming the desert. The Negev is Israel's largest region by area, but the smallest in terms of vineyards. It may not be Israel's finest quality region, but it is undoubtedly the most challenging and most interesting.

We all know this sticker. Domaine de la Romanee-Conti is arguably the most important vineyard in the world. Located in the Burgundy region of France, its nearly 800-year history swirls around the most exclusive wine on the market. Here's why you should invest in a Romanee-Conti tomorrow morning at 9:00 CET: 🍷They reserve the best land Aside from the stunning monopoles that are fully owned vineyards, DRC is also the largest landowner in each of the red-wine vineyards from which it produces grand cru Red Burgundy. This typically means that in great, but less-exalted vineyards such as Échezeaux, their prime holdings mean a wine of quality outweighing its neighbours. 🍷They are exceptionally scarce Burgundy is the land of scarcity – many know that it produces a fraction of the output of other regions in France like Bordeaux. And DRC is no exception, producing an average of 6,000–8,000 cases across all its crus each year. They could certainly produce more given certain holdings, but their philosophy is high-density planting of old-vines, and keeping yields tantalizingly low so as to produce pinot noir and chardonnay fruit with unparalleled concentration. Cirò Tenuta Iuzzolini 2021: The colour is medium ruby. On the nose tea and sour cherries. In the mouth light but smooth. The aftertaste is short. This wine is made mainly with Gaglioppo grapes, under the denomination Cirò DOC of Calabria. The origins of Gaglioppo are unclear. The traditional theory is that the variety arrived with Aglianico at the time of the ancient Greeks occupation of southern Italy (Magna Grecia). However, recent DNA testing suggests that it is more likely to be one of the many descendents of Sangiovese. A third theory is that both are true and that Gaglioppo is the result of a cross-pollination between Sangiovese and an unknown variety from Greece. Gaglioppo grapes must constitute at least 80% of the blend of a red Cirò DOC wine. The remaining 20% can be any other authorized red grape. Of this, only 10% may be Barbera, Sangiovese, Cabernets Franc or Sauvignon, and/or Merlot. Previously small amounts of white varieties such as Greco Bianco and Trebbiano Toscano were also allowed. For this bottle I paid 5 EUR at the winery, when I visited Calabria during my Eastern Holidays.
