With Ladoux, the MPZPM not only gains a world-leading researcher in the field of biophysics, but now has a fourth Humboldt Professor on its Scientific Board alongside Prof. Franze, Prof. Guck and Prof. Sandoghdar. Ladoux conducts research in the field of mechanobiology and together with his team studies the physical principles that govern the self-organization of cellular and tissue systems and their adaptation to the mechanical constraints of the environment. A technology that is truly reforming the realm of biophysical interactions!!
In the realm of biophysics and structural biology, understanding the properties and interactions of biomolecules at the molecular level is paramount. Mass Photometry has emerged as a powerful tool for precisely measuring the mass of individual biomolecules in solution. In our latest blog, we delve into the benefits and limitations of Mass Photometry, shedding light on its capabilities and potential applications. Did you know that there is a special type of peptides designed to attach to and deliver a specific medicine in tumor cells, like a precision-guided missile? Read this #bioisidigest and find out how can computational models help to design these molecules: https://lnkd.in/dCK57Yv9 The original article, published by Miguel Machuqueiro, Principal Investigator at the Computational BiopHysics Lab, at Faculdade de Ciรชncias da Universidade de Lisboa, and first-authored by Tomรกs Silva, former PhD student from the same lab, in the Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling by the American Chemical Society can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dCMMfmWf #bioisidigest #computationalbiology #computationalbiophysics

Arnold Pompos, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Associate Vice Chair, Strategic Initiatives and Capital Investments, has been busy this summer! On June 15, he presented his work, "Development of online adaptive workflow that satisfies the Heisenbergโs Principle of Uncertainty of US Medical Doctors," at the Unity MR Linac Consortium Meeting in Amsterdam. In early July, Dr. Pompos gave a virtual invited talk for an international training course and participated in a panel discussion at the Heavy Ion Therapy Research Integration. The program was called "Specialized Course on Heavy Ion Therapy Research with a Focus on Clinical Aspects." Dr. Pompos gave another invited talk on July 22 at a Houston workshop, "Image-Guided Cancer Therapy (IGCT) Research Program Innovations in MR-Linac Treatment - Physics Perspective." His talk was titled, "Online adaptation workflow QA." Weiguo Lu, Ph.D., Professor, co-authored the talk and gave the oral presentation. #medphys #physicist #cancerresearch #oncologyresearch #physics #science #cancertherapy

[PDF] Vision: The Approach of Biophysics and Neurosciences : Proceedings of the International School of Biophysics Casamicciola, Napoli, Italy, 11-16 October ... on Biophysics and Biocybernetics) (v. 11) Carlo Musio digsell https://lnkd.in/eS2G8wyH The light sense is conceivably the key sense in both the animal and the plant kingdom. Vision research, undoubtedly a fast-growing field, is providing impressive results โ thanks to modern theoretical and methodological advances. The approach of biophysics and neuroscience seems to be of great benefit and, for this reason, the present book gives an outline of recent acquisitions and updated advanced methods concerning this approach. Visual mechanisms and processes are analysed at several (molecular, cellular, integrative, computational and cognitive) levels by different methodologies (from molecular biology to computation) applied to different living models (from protists to humans, via invertebrates โฆ Read More ยป https://lnkd.in/eq2aWiTu...

ใPossible Nature of an Electron Dense Substance in the Thylakoid Lumen of Chloroplastsใ Full article: https://lnkd.in/g_5FVn2z (Authored by Galina Semenova, from Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics of Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia.) Thylakoids, photosynthesizing membranes of chloroplasts, are flattened closed membrane structures with an inner space, the lumen. The #thylakoid_lumen can contain an electron dense substance (ED substance), which has been recorded for numerous species of cultivated and wild plants. This work investigates the nature of a yet unidentified #electron_dense_substance localized in the thylakoid lumen. #Glutar_Chloroplasts #Ultrastructure
