Communities of Excellence 2026 (COE 2026) is an initiative that seeks to improve the quality of life for residents in various communities by utilizing the #CommunitiesofExcellenceFramework. This framework is adapted from the #Baldrige Excellence Framework, a systems framework designed to empower organizations to achieve their goals and enhance results. The framework is revised every two years based on expert input and leading-edge practices. The #COE2026 Framework includes several core components such as community leadership, strategy, focus on residents and customers, measurement and analysis, people resources, community operations, and results. These components encourage communities to approach improvement in a systematic manner, including evaluating and enhancing key processes, deploying these processes consistently, and integrating them to address current and future needs. The framework emphasizes collaboration across various sectors, including health, education, economic vitality, and quality of life, and stresses the importance of systematic collaboration among stakeholders in a community. It is not a simple overnight project but a long-term journey that requires commitment, planning, measurement, and systematic collaboration. Communities of Excellence 2026 is significant for communities, companies, governments, and individuals because it provides a structured approach to addressing community challenges and improving outcomes. By using this framework, communities can become more deliberate and systematic in their improvement efforts, engage more people, and measure progress effectively. It also facilitates the development of strong relationships and trust, promotes more intentional, data-based decisions, and helps communities leverage their unique strengths and assets. Additionally, the framework has gained recognition and support at the national level. Congress has authorized "communities" to be eligible to apply for and receive recognition for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, indicating the importance and effectiveness of systematic community improvement efforts. Learning about and adopting the COE Framework can help communities, companies, governments, and individuals work together more effectively to improve community outcomes, ensuring a stronger, more vibrant community for current and future generations.

The Melting Pot Edinburgh did a phenomenal job of hosting a series of events in 23-24 on the theme of 'Bridging Communities'. The Team built connections with 33 community groups and hosted almost 350 people across five different events. Why did events work? 1. If you look at the video (gorgeously shot and edited) from their conference earlier in the year, you'll see the investment in creativity. Doing things with a bit of 'pzazz' and colour reaps rewards. 2. People want to cross-pollinate. In our algorithm-ed world, we want to take time to find people who are 'not like us' and learn from them. 3. Relationships were real. This wasn't a quick, 'Hi, you don't know me but can we borrow your community to look like we co-designed'. This was genuine investment and mutual benefit. 4. Behind every sleek event is a range of skilled professionals who make it look easy, and often glossy and slick. Among them were Helen Denny and Anna Brow. 5. Conversations weren't taken for granted. Facilitators were poised and ready to help people connect. Well, that's all lovely. Where next? Have a watch of the video, digest the report and please, please get in touch with the team if you are able to sponsor or partner the next iteration of events. The future is all about turning energy into action.... #CommunityDevelopment #SocialEnterprise https://lnkd.in/dbKraBbX https://lnkd.in/d_qndeec

From Sacramento Valley Section of Cal APA-- As professionals in planning, design, and community development, many of us entered these fields driven by the desire to "Do the Right Thing." However, addressing complex and multi-dimensional issues such as climate change, the housing crisis, and systemic inequities, while balancing numerous stakeholders and constrained resources, makes defining the right course of action challenging. Even once defined, implementation can prove even more daunting. This Speaker Series aims to bring together diverse perspectives from various disciplines, industries, and backgrounds to explore the concept of "doing the right thing," acknowledge the absence of a single correct answer, and examine how we can harness these insights to find purpose, challenge the status quo, and collaboratively strive towards a shared objective. All sessions will be held from 9:30am to 11:30am via a Hybrid Format Register: https://lnkd.in/ggGCwQZs
