This year's International Women's Day theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. This resonates so strongly with us - it is something that we live and work by not just today, but every day. One of the key pillars of Inspire Inclusion is the promotion of diversity in leadership and decision-making positions. Women, especially those belonging to underrepresented groups, continue to face barriers when seeking leadership roles. By championing inclusion, organisations and communities can harness the full potential of diverse perspectives, leading to better decision-making and innovation. According to McKinsey's workplace report, women remain underrepresented at all levels of the corporate pipeline, and despite slow progress since 2015, ascension to leadership roles has actually dropped 2% in the past year. March is the month that we celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of women, and the significant personal and societal roles they have played through Women’s history month. As women it is important that we continue to fight for equity, diversity, and inclusion.If we want a positive future for ourselves, our daughters, sisters and so on, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives, workplaces, and institutions. It takes courage to speak up and advocate. I celebrate those women who after decades of discrimination, work for basic inclusion, equality and fairness. Gender diversity is about more than just the presence of women in the industry or in leadership roles. Diversity also requires an industry and corporate culture of acceptance and collaboration. The median age of realtors is 60 with 62% of those realtors being females, but women are still less represented in executive roles. I am proud to be amongst the many women in my field to have achieved a level of leadership and ownership as the Managing Partner for The Agency Seattle, and to be aligned with a company with a strong female workforce (71%) but as a real estate industry we still have the need for more women in leadership roles.
