Congratulations to Jim Gomez on his promotion to Materials Manager! In a recent 1:1 with Jim, he shared with us what he most enjoys about working at MEI and his favorite value that encompasses MEI’s cultures and values. "Since joining the team here at MEI, I have been amazed at the organizations passion for what they do. Their passion for customers and products is second to none. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know not only the business and it’s customers and partners, but the people that continue to practice the organizations core values daily. Ethics, Passion, Quality, Integrity and innovation are key to the continued success of the company and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it."

Executive Head at Placement Cell, Department of Commerce, MAIMS | Editorial head at COMMPACT |Self employed at Alvarado Fragrances
I anchored for COMMFIESTA 6.0 which is the annual management fest organized by COMMPACT- The Commerce Society of MAIMS. Here are some things this taught me: 1. Adaptability is Key: Unexpected situations are inevitable on stage. It taught me to think on my feet, adjust to last-minute changes, and maintain a sense of composure. 2. Confidence is a must: Stepping onto a stage can be daunting, but having confidence inspires trust and engagement. This reinforced the power of presence and clear communication. 3. Embrace the Chaos: Live events rarely go exactly according to plan. This opportunity honed my ability to manage unexpected situations calmly and creatively, skills that helps me navigate complex projects and maintain calmness under pressure. 4. Celebrate the Wins: A successful event is a collaborative effort. Anchoring instilled in me the importance of acknowledging the contributions of others and celebrating collective achievements, a practice that fosters positive results. Just remember to smile and enjoy each and every bit of the moment when the stage is set and the mics are on ! ✨ This was the moment I knew a core memory is in the making.

Take a look at REI Co-Op’s web page with profiles of this year’s director nominees. They try to give you a feel for who these people are beyond their resumes and what the work of the company means to them. Contrast this with the director bios that public companies put on their websites and in their annual proxy statements. Maybe public companies should look at examples beyond just their own peers?

What’s possible when you finally recover your time and energy? Deal with the self-doubt that can hold you back? Handle the unconscious biases you may face on a day to day basis in your workplace? Getting those fundamentals in place is a necessary first step, as they were for a client of mine. Only then could we focus in on her real passion: To develop her thought leadership, extend her career network beyond her company and build her personal brand. We clarified her vision and values, and tapped into her Zone of Genius. From her vision, we needed to define and get really clear on the scope of her thought leadership. With that clarity, she could begin to develop and grow her niche. That, in turn, enabled her to identify the people she needed to connect with outside her organisation. People aligned with her vision, values and thought leadership niche. She now holds a global role in her company and has taken on board and non-executive director roles outside her company. If you’re excited to make a bigger impact by developing your thought leadership and personal brand, why not book a call with me to explore what’s possible for you? Link under my profile above.

I had the opportunity to follow “The Complete Skilled Negotiator”, an intense 3.5 days workshop with The Gap Partnership. Hands down the best training I’ve ever been through! 🙌 Here are my 3 take-aways: 1) Preparation is key before entering into any negotiation. Understand both your and the other party’s goals while anticipating objections and counterarguments. 2) Negotiation is not a competition where you have to win. It’s about finding and maximising the value of your deal. Ego has no place in that. 3) Master your communication skills. Listen actively, ask open-ended questions and use non-verbal communication wisely. Big thanks to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners for the trust, the fantastic group of colleagues, and especially to Maxim for his guidance in enhancing my negotiation skills. #negotiation #development #topemployer

To all of my higher ed friends - as budgets get tighter and your processes for purchasing get more and more complex, partnering with a purchasing org can save you time and money. I joined E&I early in 2024 because of their commitment and focus solely on education. Oh, and did I mention we're a non-profit? Let me know if I can connect you with anyone as you start thinking about 24/25. #highereducation #cooperativepurchasing #nonprofit #strategy #purchasing #supplychain #education
