Earlier in my career, getting people to think differently and break out of habits formed from longstanding processes was one of my biggest challenges.    At Watco UK the business has changed significantly since I first joined, really embracing the digital side of how best we can support our customers, however, it is important to keep an eye on where old habits can creep in and stifle newness.   Last week, I spoke about the benefits of "walk-and-talk" meetings, which are a great way to get out from behind your desk and lean more into creative thinking throughout the work day. However, this isn't always possible. When I am caught at my desk for the day, catching up on the latest marketing campaigns is another of my favourite ways to encourage thinking differently.   My example of the week is this from Heinz and Absolut: https://lnkd.in/eUMmKdzw   Despite coming from a completely different sector, the campaign is great inspiration for how creative design and can really sell an idea. How one brand stole the thunder this Valentin’s day! It may be a surprise to many Mondelēz International owns both 5 star and Dairy Milk. They used both brands to target the opposite spectrum of the D-Day or should I say V-Day. 5 Star was used to target the singles and those opposed to V-Day. Dairy Milk targeted those in love 🥰. The advantage here is that Mondelēz International is a low key name while 5 star and dairy milk are strong brands on their own. This helps in targeting opposite sides without getting the customer confused. Do you know of any other instance where one company used two brands to target the entire spectrum of the market and pulled it off successfully?

In 2011, Coca-Cola launched one of its most successful marketing campaigns to date: "Share a Coke." Originating in Australia, this campaign aimed to increase brand engagement and personal connection with consumers by replacing the iconic Coca-Cola logo on bottles with popular names. The results achieved were we as follows: Increased Sales: The "Share a Coke" campaign led to a significant increase in Coca-Cola sales. In Australia alone, sales increased by over 7% during the campaign period. At the end of 2022 our colleagues in the Nestlé Coffee Strategic Business Unit (SBU) launched a new global big idea for Nescafé - a fundamental evolution for the brand in order to remain relevant, but put a stake in the ground as an iconic, global sustainable coffee brand. It was a great piece of work and well received across the business. 👏 🏆 Since then we've been trusted with bringing this vision and new look to life through many of our marketing and advertising activities in our region. ♻ 📺 Our first advertising campaign of 2023 gave a debut to our new strapline 'Make your world' and communicated tangible evidence and commitments of our sustainability work. It aired across many markets in Europe, performed very well and kicked off our work in other areas. 🚀 💹 We've brought the new look and feel into other campaigns, launching our ready-to-drink coffee range with it, along with multiple ad efforts to increase existing product awareness or consideration, launch new ranges or drive purchase. Shopper and retail media assets have been transformed, and we're seeing some excellent in-store and online execution take place. 🎯 🔊 At the end of year we also finished the migration of 30 websites in Europe to match the new creative style and messaging, and ensure that our primary digital owned touchpoint was looking good and fit for the future. A huge and complex project but good to get across the line. 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 4️⃣ This year you will start to see even more changes as our whole portfolio undergoes a packaging change (both in-store and online), and we will bring even more synergies and consistency through our social media and email communication to our audience of NESCAFÉ coffee drinkers.
