Seemingly every #urgentcare clinician I've spoken with recently has said they've been seeing a rise in summer COVID. What's up with that? We are currently in Week 32 of 2024. According to this chart of aggregated national urgent care visits I pulled from Experity Business Intelligence, there has been a steady week-over-week increase in #covid19 activity since Memorial Day. While last week hit a high not seen since the end of February, COVID visits are still 25% below the January seasonal peak. In real numbers, last week came in at 150% of the YTD weekly average. Now, last week was up only 10% over the prior week indicating velocity has slowed versus the average 20% week-over-week increases seen in June and July. But don't take my word for it. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 35 states and territories, particularly those in the South and Midwest, are seeing rising COVID infections. Additionally, as of July 27, 16.3% of tests are positive versus 3.1% on May 11. What's your experience been this summer?
